Position Overview
We are seeking a Legal Counsel to join our team in Italy as the primary Legal professional on site at our Brescia Manufacturing Plant as well as remotely serving as part of our Legal team supporting our global operations. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping our legal practices in supporting our growing business.
As the primary Legal professional on site at our Brescia Manufacturing Plant, this role requires a proactive and versatile professional who can handle a wide range of Legal tasks independently, seeking to grow and develop their career.
Position Responsibilities
- Support operational teams in Italy on legal matters, and provide legal advice and support to other Cespira Group entities (including Canada and Sweden)
- Ensure compliance with Italian laws and EU regulations, staying updated on changes and ensuring the company’s practices are compliant
- Oversee and conduct the review, drafting and negotiation of a wide variety of commercial agreements (in particular confidentiality agreements, development agreements, supply agreements, terms and conditions, master service agreements)
- Prepare legal templates
- Be first point of contact for legal-related queries within Cespira
- Assist with corporate governance matters and ensuring best practices
- Assist in the development of internal policies and procedures to ensure compliance with international, federal and local laws and regulations
- Assist in staying up to date on changes in laws and regulations that may impact the organization and provide proactive advice and recommendations
- Assist with supervision of external counsel and managing external counsel in international jurisdictions as well as in specialty areas of the law
- Look for opportunities to introduce innovative and efficient ways to provide legal support for our business
- Participate in and contribute to other special projects as needed
Position Requirements
- University Degree in Law and Italian Bar Examination.
- 3-6 years post-qualification experience in a leading law firm or as In-house lawyer with industry experience (manufacturing, automotive or renewable energy)
- Fluent in Italian and Advanced English, both written and spoken.
- Strong background in corporate and commercial law, GDPR experience an asset
- Strong negotiation skills
- Willingness to develop knowledge of company and industry
- Ability to lead change in processes and responsibilities as a result of process improvement initiatives and manage any conflict that is a result of this change
- Self-starter who is resourceful and able to work independently and effectively with cross-functional teams, including international teams, within a complex organization
- Demonstrated strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across the company and externally at all levels
- A results-oriented business partner focus is essential, with the ability to provide sound and practical legal advice in a fast-paced changing environment
- Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving, time management and organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated flexibility in adjusting to a rapidly changing workload providing support to colleagues during times of increased workload
- A high degree of professionalism, business judgment and unquestioned personal ethics, integrity and responsibility
- Ability to think strategically and creatively to identify and resolve legal issues
- Ability to learn new skills and to adapt to changing business needs
