**1. POST CONTEXT**
This is a position within the Centre for Maritime Research and Experimentation (CMRE), an organization of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
CMRE is an established, world-class scientific research and experimentation facility that organizes and conducts scientific research and technology development, centred on the maritime domain, delivering innovative and field tested Science & Technology (S&T) solutions to address defence and security needs of the Alliance.
The position is within the Human Resources Branch which serves the CMRE as a solutions-oriented services provider of relevant, and strategic human capital insight to enhance timely and effective decision making while facilitating the overall CMRE's goals and strategies. HR provides the recruitment, retention, training and recognition of the best qualified persons and manpower management to fulfil the mission. HR establishes and administers policies, guidance and best practices in the areas of manpower, manpower and capacity; talent management; staff services and support; and strategy, policy and coordination through a robust set of synchronized processes to maintain efficiency and effectiveness.
The Human Resources Branch also provides personnel support and pragmatic solutions to all staff within CMRE. The Branch is responsible for the coordination of CMRE staff payroll and allowances; pension and benefits; contract management; registration all staff upon arrival and departure; and providing support to families as required; research and manage legal queries pertaining to staff; maintain daily personnel staff accountability; and, respond to all inquiries made by staff regarding professional status within their employment.
**2. PRINCIPAL DUTIES**
This internship will be devoted to supporting projects that may include but are not limited to the following:
- Provide assistance in the Travel Office;
- Processing travel claims;
- Entering visitors into the Visitor Management System;
- Organizing travel arrangements.
- Provide assistance in the Payroll Office;
- Enter information and purchase request into the NATO automated financial systems;
- Auditing.
- Assist in the Recruitment Section;
- Advertising vacancies;
- Editing Job descriptions;
- Calculating KPI’s and analyzing trends;
- Draft correspondence, prepare certificates, letter of offers and contracts;
- On-boarding new employees.
- Personnel management;
- Maintain personal folders and other documents and correspondence as required;
- Data entry and updating records;
- Identify training needs and opportunities.
- Drafting HR Standard Operating Procedures.
**3. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND ADDITIONAL DUTIES**

- The incumbent may be required to perform other related duties even in other parts of the organization as directed.
- As required by the Program of Work, the incumbent may be asked to participate in working groups or project teams.
All other related duties should correspond with the required competencies for the job.
- b. Deployment/Travel _
The incumbent may be required to undertake TDY assignments within and outside NATO boundaries.
**4. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS**

A thorough knowledge of one of the two NATO languages, both written and spoken, is essential and some knowledge of the other is desirable.

**NOTE**:Most of the work of CMRE is conducted in the English language.
**5. DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS**
- Understanding of most HR functions and best practices.
- Experience in customer service;
- Experience with online recruiting tools, such as LinkedIn;
- Experience in editing large documents;
- Experience in payroll processes;
- Working knowledge of MS Office, including Visio;
- Experience working in international or military organizations;
- Experience with SharePoint.
**6. REMARKS**
This internship is open only to nationals of a NATO Member State. Security Clearance at the NATO SECRET level may be requested for you if deemed necessary.
Travel costs will be reimbursed up to a certain threshold. Some applicants may be eligible for further remuneration.
