**1. POST CONTEXT**

The Joint Logistics Support Group Headquarters commands and controls assigned logistic, Engineer and medical units for the execution of JTF’s operational level plan.

The Support Branch is responsible for the support of JLSG HQ mission execution.

The Communication and Information System Section (CIS) develops and coordinates CIS plans and concepts in support for operational (COPs / OPLANs) CIS support for the JLSG HQ.

The incumbent is responsible for CIS support of the Joint Logistics Support Group HQ (JLSG HQ).

The incumbent reports to the Branch Head (Support) OF-5.

**2. DUTIES**

The Section Head's duties are:

- To act as the Head of the CIS Section of JLSG HQ. He / She is directly subordinated to the Branch Head (Support).
- Be responsible for advising COS JLSG HQ on all CIS matters and for co-ordination on all decisions on CIS issues.
- To provide support in developing tactical plans, concepts, procedures and training of JLSG HQ.
- Be responsible for coordination and preparation of CIS Annexes of JLSG GRPs and OPLANs.
- To ensure CIS supporting JLSG HQ and subordinate units are available and supportable to meet deployed Information Exchange Requirements (IERs).
- To monitor current CIS situation with JLSG subordinate units in JLS AOR, maintain own CIS situational awareness when JLSG HQ is activated and deployed and report JLSG CIS Situation and CIS related incidents to the higher HQs.
- To advise COS JLSG on the solution of CIS and Cyber related issues and to act to resolve the CIS related incidents.
- To act as the point of contact between the JLSG Staff and the CIS providing elements (NCISG, NCIA or others).
- To coordinate, in close coordination with the provider, the deployment of NATO CIS within the JLSG HQ and subordinate units.
- To ensure overall efficient operation of all assigned CIS assets with support of CIS providing element.
- To supervise the settlement of CIS assets within JLSG HQ in close coordination with Section Head Information Management.
- To coordinate and supervise Cyber Defence, INFOSEC and Frequency Management issues in JLSG.

The incumbent may be required to perform like duties elsewhere within the organization as directed.

The incumbent is required to undertake operation deployments and/or TDY assignments both within and outside NATO's boundaries.

The work is normally performed in a Normal NATO office working environment / secure office environment with artificial light and air (e.g. Bunker).

Normal Working Conditions apply. The risk of injury is categorized as: No risk / risk might increase when deployed.

**3. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**

**ESSENTIAL**

University Degree in the area of Information Technologies (IT) and Communications and 6 years of post related experience, or

Higher Secondary education and completed Advanced Vocational Training, or equivalent studies, leading to a professional qualification or professional accreditation in the area of IT and Communications with 6 years of post related experience and 2 years of function related experience.

Broad technical knowledge in Communications and information Systems, including DCIS assets.

Proven experience in CIS planning and risks assessment.

Experience in the definition of CIS requirements, including network design, for deployable operations.

Experience in the development of CIS contingency plans.

Must have an English Standard Language Proficiency level of “professional” in Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing (SLP 3333 based on NATO standards).

**DESIRABLE**

Experience in staff level working the G6 area of operations and experience in the installation, and maintenance of voice, data, and video communication capabilities, services, and systems.

Previous NATO assignment is highly desirable

**4. POSITION AND CANDIDATE PROFILE**

**Personal attributes**

The incumbent must possess courtesy, tact, diplomacy, mental alertness, negotiating skills and service-mindedness together with good health, stress tolerance and ability to work long hours when required. The incumbent must be able to travel frequently on temporary duty is an essential element of the duties.

**Managerial Responsabilities**

There are first line reporting responsibilities for the following numbers of staff: 1x OF-3; 1x OR-7.
