Mission

As Quality Control (QC) Officer, you will be responsible for managing quality control activities of the site. This means you will be responsible for ensuring, developing and maintaining quality control standards and you will manage 1 technician working both in the lab and on daily operations.

As Quality Assurance (QA), you will be responsible to develop, implement and maintain technical quality assurance.

Specific Responsibilities

The Quality Control Officer will

Ensure the manufacturing production lines run smoothly and generate a consistently suitable output of products that set standards of quality, reliability and performance.

Implement quality & control procedures and associated documentation

Manage in-process and finished product inspections

Make sure the local Quality team is focused on quality improvement opportunities identification

Define relevant monitoring indicators to ensure production and QC improvement

Analyse deviations recorded by Production/quality.

Manage Supplier performance by controlling/inspecting raw material delivery and track supplier non conformities compliance - If applicable

Analyse customer complaints (quality) and propose associated corrective actions for repeated failures or unreliability of quality.

Liaise with customers, auditors, and ensure the execution of corrective action and compliance with customers' specifications.

Perform tests and analyse the samples coming from production or Suppliers

The Quality Assurance Officer will

Maintain the ISO 9001 certification for the plant, with support from the central EMEA quality assurance area; update the Quality Management System; manage the Non Conformance Report system and monitor adherence to goals; maintain document control database

Participate in internal ISO audits at Fiorano. Participate in internal audits to other sites in EMEA at least once per year

Ensure calibration procedures and records are kept up to date and maintained in good condition; adjust laboratory equipment as necessary

Communicate effectively with the Plant Manager, the QA Manager EMEA and all other relevant functions

Ensures quality procedures and standards are followed and met

Maintain current knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines

General responsibilities
- Timely closing of assigned findings from audits, if applicable.
- Participation in projects if applicable, fulfil the assigned tasks
- Attend all required training, inform the direct supervisor about further training needs if necessary
- Follow the reporting lines & rules of the supervisor and use the designated reporting tools to document the work in order to prevent the loss of information.
- Indicate opportunities for improvements
- Demonstrate professional behaviour and commitment, be an example for and support the colleagues. Always respect the golden rule: safety first. Do not perform any work if the safety guidelines cannot be followed.
- Prevent accidents by reporting unsafe conditions or other safety deviations directly and taking immediate corrective actions if (safely) possible
- Keep the work area clean and organized, live the 5S

Background

Technician (Bac+2) with experience

Ceramic or Refractories knowledge

Quality inspection, auditing and testing experience.

English spoken

Technical skills - preferred

Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA)

Problem Solving Techniques: 8D, A3, Brainstorming, Ishikawa (Cause & Effect), 5 Whys

Demonstrate an understanding of the relevant regulations, standards and operating procedures

Working experience with Quality testing and Quality systems management (such as ISO 9001, etc.)

Knowledge of the refractories industry (including raw materials and formulations) and/or our customers’ operations in the different market segments
