The Young Graduate Trainee will be located in the Sustainable Initiatives Office (EOP-SCI) in the Climate Action, Sustainability and Science Department. The SCI Office is responsible for leading new, cross-disciplinary initiatives that aggregate capabilities coming from different EO thematic domains and projects. The goal is to migrate these capabilities into large-scale, external programmes, co-designed with and lead by international user communities and stakeholders. The focus is on initiatives with potential to significantly enlarge the scientific and societal impact of Earth Observation.

The Space for a Green Future (S4GF) Accelerator is an integrated and transversal team spanning three ESA directorates, working in deep collaboration with representatives of S4GF Green Transition stakeholders at national, international, European, and sectorial levels.

The mission of the S4GF team is to create a co-governed & independent non-profit partnership of Green Transition actors united under a common banner, engaging governments, businesses, multilateral institutions, civil society groups, end users and citizens to develop and scale practical space-based solutions supporting Carbon Neutrality and greening of society by 2050.

**Field(s) of activity/research for the traineeship**
As part of the Space for a Green Future Task Force you will participate in Driving the Space for a Green Future Accelerator along two main streams of activity, S4GF Co-development of a robust collaborative framework aimed at leveraging impactful space solutions for
the green transition, and S4GF Pre-operations, aimed at conducting the accelerator in pre-operational mode, addressing short-term opportunities for collaborative action.

Activities will include:

- Contribution to ESA activities in support of the S4GF
- Support the S4GF Working Group
- Maintaining relations with partners
- Participation in collaborative activities with S4GF partners.
Participate in the organization and conduction of the S4GF working group, including planning, definition of objectives, preparation of inputs to meetings and contribute to S4GF specific work items, as relevant, including, inter alia:

- Mapping of Green Transition priorities and corresponding opportunities for collaborative action with the space sector, and the definition and setup of short-term activities addressing quick-win opportunities.
- Contribute to outreach and communication including planning and the creation of material and event participation.
- Contribute to specific technical activities aimed at providing space capabilities addressing Green Transition objectives.
- Maintain and support the development of partnerships with Green Transition stakeholders.

**Education**
You should have just completed, or be in the final year of your Master’ s degree in a technical o scientific discipline with a relation to Earth Observation or Green Transition

**Additional requirements**
You should have good interpersonal and communication skills and should be able to work in a multicultural environment, both independently and as part of a team.
The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required.
Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.
During the interview motivation and overall professional perspective/career goals will also be explored.
