Assistant Researcher

Sony CSL Rome aims to contribute to the redesign of our societies with a coordinated and transdisciplinary approach operating at very different spatial and temporal scales, from short time scales of the present to long-term strategic thinking, from the micro-scale of interventions (sustainable mobility, production processes, logistics, etc.) to the larger scale of more complex features (economic development, democratic practices and social dialogue, inclusion, leveraging the vocation of specific areas, etc.).

Now, in the framework of the EU-funded S+T+ARTS “Air” project, we are looking for an Assistant Researcher on a fixed-term contract, performing research in collaboration with the artists in residency at CSL-Rome for developing selected projects in the fields of data analysis, artificial intelligence, urban sustainability, augmented creativity, and complex systems, both in the theoretical and applied side.

You will:

- Developing a research line in science and arts consistent with the topics covered in the project;
- Developing, adapting or optimising algorithms in Python related to the proposed artistic projects;
- Interacting with the artists by constructing a common language to fill the cultural gaps between these disciplines;
- Supporting the artists to adequately address the proposed projects in the field of data analysis, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and complex systems;
- Interacting with the other partners of the S+T+ARTS Air project to share ideas, support other artistic projects and contribute to the general success of the final festival;
- Writing the expected documentation and reports related to the S+T+ARTS Air project.

You have:

- Master's degree or Ph.D. qualification in Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science;
- Research experience in Complex Systems analysis, mathematical and statistical modelling and Machine Learning;
- Expertise in Big Data analysis;
- Expertise in Artificial Intelligence and development and implementation of Deep Learning models;
- Expertise in Python programming, time series analysis, and graph theory;
- Previous experience on EU projects is desirable.
