Api Sme Process Engineering

Responsible for providing Process Engineering technical support across the Pfizer Global Supply network and capital projects for both traditional batch and a specific focus on continuous API manufacturing platforms and unit operations.

As part of a Subject Matter Expert team you will provide input from a process equipment, facility design and process safety perspective to the API sites across the network. The role provides process engineering and equipment expertise to production facility designs, key technical or operational challenges within existing plants, as well as providing technical guidance to our external supply network.

This role will play a key part in the successful development and commercialization of Pfizer’s continuous API manufacturing platform (FAST) program as well as input into new batch processing design projects ensuring a robust design while optimizing capital investment. This role will strengthen Pfizer process engineering input into capital projects by ensuring best known methods and contemporary design practices and operational philosophies are used. Provide global connectivity across multiple projects and linking to the wider network knowledge.
- Responsibilities_
- Provide process engineering and automation operational philosophies to critical capital projects, new product introductions, product transfers, divestitures/acquisitions and process safety initiatives to facilitate technical excellence.
- Lead/facilitate a network team focused on optimizing performance of key API unit operations.
- Actively participate in or lead process safety reviews and Process Hazard Analyses across the network.
- Participate in any safety incident reviews or follow up meetings across the network.
- dust containment practices to unit operations.
- Actively promoting knowledge sharing and technology replication through participation in network teams
- Communicate proactively with stakeholders, regarding activities, progress, issues and resolution plans related to equipment and technical initiatives.
- Strengthen partnerships with key vendors.
- Develop innovative solutions.
- Partner with other technical groups throughout Pfizer to optimize process robustness, asset performance and on the development and introduction of innovative technical solutions and platform technologies.
- Lead the development and maintenance of Technology standards for the API network.
- Proactively seek potential new technologies or approaches that can benefit Pfizer, sharing these technologies effectively across Pfizer.
- Be the Global Engineering lead on the FAST program including:

- Lead the FAST (Flexible API Supply Technologies (Pfizer strategy to transform API manufacturing through use of continuous / hybrid modular technologies) forum to manage changes in Modules/Procedures all over the Pfizer Sites
- Own the Detailed Design Procurement Fabrication for new FAST Module as required
- Qualifications_

A Degree in Chemical Engineering or related qualification or significant experience in pharmaceutical operations with an in-depth knowledge of process engineering/process safety. Proven ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and provide technical leadership across multiple locations.

Technical Skills:

- Strong process and equipment knowledge and experience across all areas of API manufacturing, including but not limited to reactors/crystallizers/filter dryers/milling/blending/hydrogenators/etc.
- Strong knowledge of solvent and dust explosion hazards and methods of mitigation or containment approaches.
- Strong knowledge of automation system design and contemporary operational design philosophies.
- Large capital project ($30million +) design and execution knowledge.
- Process Engineering within a continuous manufacturing environment in a regulated industry is a strong advantage.
- Application of Process Safety Management fundamentals to process designs. Conducting / participation in PHAs, HAZOPs is a strong advantage.
- Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build relationships with colleagues across all levels of the organization is necessary.
- Ability to lead technical programs and initiatives, linking in with stakeholders and creating collaboration among participants.
