The plant of Ferrara, located in the Po-valley, just outside the city of Ferrara, produces ammonia and urea fertilizer, mainly for the local market, and emission abatement products for the industry and transport sector. It’s a high-level-SEVESO plant, certified ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 50001 and OHSAS 18001.

**Responsibilities**:

- Aim to achieve excellence in the overall site operation (HESQ, production, inspection, maintenance, reliability etc) and to be a role model for the site employees and contractors in achieving outstanding performance on these aspects.
- Drive accountability to a safety-first and continuous improvement site culture.
- Leading the local management team to actively maintain and improve government and external relations together with Yara EU and Yara Italy management.
- Share a trust relationship with the team, follow up its performance and development; help it to grow, secure workforce and succession planning; ensure a proper organizational design (short and long term).
- Ensure good relationship and collaboration with unions, in order to create a good climate for industrial relations, while driving a performance culture.
- Working closely with internal teams as external and government relations, the legal team, the central technical expert teams, projects and engineering team and the corporate safety and energy and envi-ronmental teams
- Maintain a constructive and open dialog with relevant external stakeholders such as regulatory bod-ies, authorities, media, local communities, etc.
- Responsible together with the Human Resources teams on maintaining and improving relevant com-petence and experience, employee development, employee motivation and a filled talent pipeline.
- Work with the commercial, global planning, engineering teams to align visions and develop a vi-sion/strategy (Road Map), after analyzing threats & opportunities within the market, legal and tech-nical framework for present and future operations.
- Meet annual volumes, maintain and develop assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing costs and maintaining and improving quality standards to assure client satisfaction.
- Analyze the need for investments and propose projects in adherence to the Yara Capital Value Pro-cess, actively overseeing the progress and quality of projects
- Manage a long range investment plan for the site, making sure that continuity investments are identi-fied and managed early/in time
- Ensure cooperation within the region and beyond to share best practices and initiatives; to speed up the implementation and usage of such best practices and to achieve an optimal synergy effect, as well as to get aware of the most recent production methods.
- Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining ob-jectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions; implement a transparent and easy-to-follow reporting.

**Profile**:

- Bachelor's degree, preferably in Scientific Disciplines or Engineering.
- Hands-on mentality, good decision-maker.
- Strong people leadership skills and able to build and maintain effective teams and to lead by example.
- Preferably Fluent in Italian or willing to learn. Fluent in English.
- Good knowledge of the Italian context (authorities, unions, etcetera) is helpful.
- Familiar with industry standard equipment and technical disciplines and chemical plant operations, comfortable to discuss technical issues and to drive technical projects.
- Knowledgeable of quality, productivity and product stewardship processes.
- Relevant experience (at least 10 years):

- in management in the (petro-)chemical industry,
- in relationship management with authorities and other external stakeholders.
- Able to multi-task and prioritize.
- Self-driven, accountable, high integrity, open communicator, strong work ethics.
- Willing and able to travel on a regular basis (to other Italian sites and or offices or other Yara sites and offices).
