Encounter Designer

Jyamma Games is looking for an experienced, talented and creative Encounter Designer to join our team.

As an Encounter Designer, you will be responsible for designing, balancing, and implementing all aspects of the game’s combat mechanics, including enemy encounters, boss battles, weapons, abilities, and character progression. Your primary area of focus will be creating challenging and engaging combat encounters, using our unique exploration, elemental and puzzle toolkit within a soulslike framework.

**Daily responsibilities**
- Design and balance combat mechanics, including enemy AI, player abilities, and weapons.
- Create engaging and challenging enemy encounters.
- Collaborate with the game design, art, and programming teams to ensure cohesive implementation of combat mechanics.
- Iterate and refine combat mechanics based on user feedback and playtesting.
- Balance player progression through the game’s combat mechanics.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and innovations in combat design and gameplay

**Qualifications**:

- 1-3 years’ experience in a Gameplay Designer or equivalent position in games.
- Strong passion for and understanding of Soulslike games and their unique combat mechanics.
- Experience with game development tools such as Unity or Unreal Engine.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to balance gameplay systems and mechanics.
- Ability to creatively use assets and work with a limited budget.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Fluent English.

**Nice to have**:

- Experience working on Soulslike games or other challenging action games.
- Working knowledge of Italian.
- Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Computer Science, or related field.
