For the Thermo Fisher Scientific (Thermo Ramsey) site in Parma, a mechanical plant operating in the food and pharmaceutical packaging sector, we are looking for the figure of Buyer / Planner with the following responsibilities.

**The Site Buyer / Planner** position is responsible for ensuring the lowest total cost of purchased materials and maintaining a diligent supply chain for the factory. The primary objectives include driving supplier partnerships, planning material requirements, optimizing inventory and production, achieving cost objectives, and ensuring timely and accurate supply of materials.

Key responsibilities of the Site Buyer / Planner include:

- Placing purchase orders (POs) and planning material requirements to support inventory, production, and customer requirements while maintaining cost objectives.
- Participating in the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) process to ensure a robust multi-year pipeline of projects and taking ownership for implementation, including resource needs and completion goals.
- Ensuring assurance of supply by delivering the right products, at the right time, and in the right place, with particular attention to Warehouse Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as inventory levels, Days of Supply (DOS), Excess and Obsolete (E&O) inventory, Safety Stock (SS), and Consignment.
- Reviewing and discussing price increases or decreases with the supply base to achieve purchasing savings and Purchase Price Variance (PPV) goals/objectives.
- Conducting collaborative meetings with key suppliers to discuss metrics and forecast demand.
- Ensuring compliance with contracts and agreements.
- Resolving supply disruptions in a timely manner.
- Supporting the development and implementation of procurement processes, standard work, and tools.
- Maintaining procurement master data in the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system, including lead times, pricing, Minimum Order Quantities (MOQs), safety stock, and minimum/maximum inventory levels.
- Leading the management of open and past-due POs, reschedule requests, and expediting deliveries with suppliers, and updating relevant data in the ERP system.
- Collaborating with the Global Trade Compliance function to ensure all necessary documentation for import/export activities is obtained from suppliers.
- Handling materials supply and inventory levels to meet manufacturing goals, including reviewing Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and working closely with suppliers and internal teams to update required data and communicate changes.
- Demonstrating strong analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and achieve results.
- Supervising the performance of the supply base and initiating/monitoring improvement plans where necessary.
- Preparing material quotations for future business opportunities.
- Building and maintaining positive vendor relationships through open and timely communication, on-site supplier visits/audits, regular performance feedback, and resolving conflicts in a timely and professional manner.

**Skills**:

- Multi-discipline work experience which may include background in material planning, purchasing or a supply chain role.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.

- Fluent in Italian and English
