GEMTEC is a growing firm with offices throughout Atlantic Canada and in Ontario, and we are looking for a motivated and skilled Geotechnical or Hydrogeological EIT/ GIT to join our Team. We currently have an opening for a full-time Geotechnical or Hydrogeological EIT/ GIT in our Mississauga, ON office.

You will work with a team of engineers, hydrogeologists, and environmental scientists on a variety of geotechnical, hydrogeological and environmental projects in support of infrastructure projects, land development, as well as contaminated sites assessment and management.

**Educational & Experience Requirements**:

- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or earth science with an emphasis in geotechnical and / or hydrogeology, and at least one course in either.
- Eligible for professional registration (P.Geo. or P.Eng.).
- Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience (preferably in consulting) would be considered an asset.
- Understanding and demonstrated field experience in soil and bedrock classification, overburden and bedrock drilling methods, hydraulic testing (slug, packer, pumping tests), and soil, sediment, surface water and groundwater sampling protocols.
- Strong knowledge of physical hydrogeology, environmental site characterization and remediation, and groundwater and surface water monitoring programs.
- Groundwater flow and transport modelling experience would be considered an asset.
- Familiarity with software packages specific to geotechnical and / or environmental geoscience/hydrogeology (borehole logging, aquifer test analysis, Surfer, ArcGIS, and groundwater modelling).
- Ability and interest to undertake extensive fieldwork, in a range of weather conditions, including working in remote locations and on programs that may require camp stays.

**Main Duties**:

- Provide field and technical support to a wide variety of geotechnical and hydrogeological projects; including the preparation and supervision of field programs, data collection, data analysis, and technical report writing and proposal preparation.
- Design and conduct field investigations, including: drilling and logging, test pitting, soil and bedrock characterization, monitoring well installation, hydraulic response testing, soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water sampling, installation of groundwater instrumentation, etc.
- Assisting intermediate and senior staff prepare technical geotechnical and / or environmental reports including, geotechnical site characterization and design (foundations, slope stability, retaining structures, settlement analysis, etc.), hydrogeology characterization assessments, impact assessments, dewatering assessments, groundwater supply studies, environmental site assessments, remediation, and groundwater and surface water monitoring reports.
- Assisting with field materials engineering and construction services as needed, including field testing and inspection of aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and construction and earthworks supervision.

**Position**:

- Full time salaried position.
- Providing proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 may be a condition of employment. Some exceptions apply.
