**Role Description**

newcleo is driving forwards an exciting and challenging international programme to develop and deploy our innovative Lead-cooled Fast Reactor technology. We are looking for highly motivated and pro-active thermal-hydraulic analysts with various levels of experience to join our Italian team, working as part of a multi-disciplinary Unit in charge of designing the cores for the UK and French reactor projects.

The post holder will join the existing team, undertaking thermal-hydraulic analyses in support to, or complementing, the actions ongoing or planned to target the design objectives on the different projects. This will include both modelling the cores or selected sub-systems of the relevant reactors and executing the calculations for the parameters of interest, in line with the established methods and procedures. The post holder will also work in close collaboration with the other team members dealing with thermal-hydraulics; interfacing with the other team members dealing with neutronics, thermo-mechanics and fuel performance; in line with the team and project management. Activity and methodology reports will be produced and incorporated into the technical dossiers of the relevant projects.

**Main Activities**
- Conduct thermal-hydraulic modeling and analysis to support core design. Perform the complete range of actions involved in conceptual core design, and a subset of actions involved in basic core design, using sub-channel and/or CFD codes.
- Be aware of and familiar with fast reactor thermal-hydraulic analysis work being performed internationally, as well as related benchmark calculations and experiments being performed internationally.
- Interact with other Core Design team members focusing on different disciplines facilitating the exchange of information.
- Contribute to the validation of the analytical codes and methods.
- Document work using modern tools and techniques, and produce well-written, thoughtful technical reports.
- Work collaboratively as part of a small agile Unit to ensure proportionate but best practice analytical support to core design.

**Desired Qualification**

**Education**:

- MSc in Nuclear Engineering or Energetic Engineering or Physics

Languages:

- For all locations: Working knowledge of English is a must
- For location in Italy: Fluent Italian, French is a plus
- For location in France: Fluent French, Italian is a plus
- For location in UK: Italian or French is a plus

Experience / Professional requirements:

- Experience of using sub-channel or CFD thermal-hydraulic codes for core analysis, preferably in fast reactors.
- Familiarity with software programming and knowledge of Python scripting language are a plus.
- Familiarity with experimental thermal-hydraulics is a plus.
- Attention to detail but with an ability to identify key data for effective problem identification.
- Collaborative, works well as part of a diverse team.
