DATA SCIENTIST

Job Purpose

The Data Scientist integrates and analyzes complex data sets to extract biological knowledge relevant for Vaccines R&D.

This role applies data analytics and bioinformatics technologies to deliver for Vaccines R&D projects that are at the top of research and industry standards with respect to scientific excellence, quality and timelines.

Key Responsibilities
- This role will be at the interface with the next generation sequencing laboratories and manage the development and the implementation of new analytical methods.
- Perform and lead up data analytic skills in the following areas:

- bioinformatics/data analytics activities for genomics and proteomics (and in general all -omics) technologies embedded in Vaccines R&D;
- data and knowledge integration for hypothesis generation; data modelling for innovative assays, high-dimensional readouts and microbial genomics;
- development of tailored systems and analytical models for explorative analytics of pre-clinical, clinical, and epidemiological data;
- development of analysis pipelines using combinations of heterogeneous, high dimensional omics datasets and tools;
- advise on study design, readout selection and data formats, data analysis strategies; preparation and publication of scientific papers and congress reports

Minimum requirements:

- MSc or preferably PhD in Data and Computer Sciences, Complex Systems, Mathematics and Physics, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Engineering, Bioinformatics, Computational Life Sciences or equivalent.
- High theoretical background and practical experience on quantitative sciences applied to biology and strong competences in computer science. Relevant expertise on sequencing technologies and omics data analysis. Competence and research experience and publication record in one of the relevant areas of expertise will be a plus.
- Demonstrated proficiency / publication record in one or more of the following areas:

- computational and molecular epidemiology; proteomics and genomic
- bioinformatics, data mining and machine learning; high performance scientific computing infrastructures
- Very good programming, data analytics and modelling skills.
- Fluent English (spoken and written); French and Italian a plus
