**Organizational Setting**
The Forestry Division (NFO) leads FAO's work in promoting sustainable forest management and providing leadership on the environmental, social and economic dimensions of forestry, including its contributions to poverty reduction and food security and nutrition. It liaises with member countries, civil society and the private sector in aspects ranging from development of effective forest policies to forest conservation and management issues, and strengthens the role of forests in climate change mitigation and adaptation. The Division also collects analyses and disseminates information on the world's forest resources and on the production, trade and consumption of wood and non-wood forest products.
The Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) team supports countries in achieving high quality emission reductions from deforestation and forest degradation, enhancing and'conserving tropical forests and other high-carbon ecosystems while contributing to national sustainable development and agrifood systems transformation.

The post is located in the Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation (REDD+) team within NFO at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.

**Reporting Lines**
The Forestry Officer (REDD+) reports to the Senior Forestry Officer/Team Leader of REDD+ team, under the overall guidance of the Deputy Director, NFO and works in close coordination with NFO teams and personnel dealing with supply chains, forests and climate change, and national forest monitoring. The incumbent will work closely with Decentralized Offices and other relevant FAO units.

**Technical Focus**
The Forestry Officer (REDD+) will support the Forestry Division's work related to REDD+ and climate change overall, with a specific focus on transformation of agrifood systems towards sustainable practices reducing impact on forests, decoupling agriculture supply chains from deforestation and promoting the enhancement of synergies between agriculture and forestry. This topic is multi-dimensional and cross-sectoral, the Forestry Officer (REDD+) will therefore need to engage with other FAO units, notably in the divisions in charge of plant production, livestock production, market and trade, agricultural economy and statistics. Additionally, the Forestry Officer (REDD+) will support technical exchanges with partner organizations within the context of the FAO Strategic Framework.'

- Researches and analyses technical, social, economic, environmental, institutional, and technology related information, data and statistics and/or related policy issues to support the delivery of programme projects, products and services.
- Produces a variety of technical information, data, statistics and reports as well as input for technical documents and web pages.
- Provides technical support/analysis to various assessments, studies and initiatives and provides technical backstopping to field projects.
