**THE MISSION**

As the Senior Product Manager - Payments at Scalapay, based in our Milan office, you will drive the development and implementation of our payments strategy. Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), you will play a pivotal client and vendor-facing role, ensuring that our payment solutions exceed expectations and support our growth objectives. You will work closely with local payment gateways, vendors, and strategic partners such as Stripe, Adyen and Visa, to optimize both our payment acceptance and card operations. Collaboration with cross-functional teams including Product, Engineering, Marketing, Compliance, and our Partnership team will be key to your success.

**You Will**:

- Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive payments strategy that supports Scalapay’s business objectives and expansion plans.
- Partnership Development: Build and maintain strong relationships with payment processors, acquirers, issuers, local payment gateways, vendors, and other relevant partners, including strategic partners such as Visa.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the day-to-day operations of our payments system, ensuring high performance, security, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Innovation and Optimization: Identify and implement opportunities for enhancing and optimizing our payment infrastructure and processes, with a focus on local market requirements.
- Distribution Network Management: Work with local vendors to optimize our distribution network, ensuring maximum reach and efficiency.
- Card Operations Optimization: Collaborate with strategic partners, such as Visa, to optimize our card operations, ensuring efficient and secure card processing.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to develop and launch new payment features and services that align with customer and market needs.
- Performance Monitoring: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to payment operations, making data-driven decisions to improve performance.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with payment operations, ensuring robust fraud prevention measures are in place.
- Stakeholder Communication: Regularly communicate payment strategy, progress, and performance to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

**You’ll be great for this role if you**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Technology, or a related field; advanced degree or MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in the payments industry, ideally within a client and vendor-facing and strategic role.
- Proven track record of leadership in payments strategy and operations.
- Strong understanding of payment processing, acquiring, issuing, local payment gateways, card operations, and related technologies.
- Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Adept at working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages, especially Italian, are a plus.
