Academic Advisor

The IES Abroad Milan Academic Advisor is a full-time position whose primary duties include:
1. Academic Advising
The Academic Advisor will be the students' core referent for academics while they are abroad. S/he will:

- Create and manage courses in the ATLAS Intranet database to ensure accurate student transcripts
- Work with enrollment management staff to prepare students’ academic files and issue student IDs
- Prepare student academic contracts and photo file
- Communicate with partner institutions about partner course offerings
- Provide orientation sessions for students on academics and partner institutions
- Meet individually with all students to advise and confirm their course registration for all IES and partner university courses
- Record and file registration materials for each individual student
- Provide ongoing advising and academic support to students throughout the semester and follow up on any academic issues, sharing information and decisions with Coordinator of Academic Affairs and Center Director
- Communicate with students regarding important dates and deadlines, course offerings, course approvals, credit transfers, drop/add or pass/fail requests, approvals to enroll in partner institution courses, and other academic requests
- Monitor students’ progress and academic standing and communicate with and to appropriate channels (i.e., faculty, staff, home institution)
- Register students at partner institutions; manage payments with Accounting department; collect and insert partner institutions grades in Atlas database
- Perform weekly checks of student attendance in all courses and send notifications to students, faculty, and home institution when necessary; inform faculty of IES-related student absences
