**Residence Rector (Rome Villa)**

**University of Notre Dame**

The Residence Rector will serve at the University of Notre Dame Rome's Living Learning Community and live side by side with the students residing at the "Villa". The Residence Rector will report to the Associate Director for Student Programs. This is a residential position. The role may include but is not limited to:
**_Chief Administrator_** -**
- Attend regular meetings for ongoing supervision and professional development, including participation in the annual NDG Residential Staff Training, when applicable Supervise, train, coach, mentor and develop residential staff
- Ensure that policies governing student conduct, including those outlined in du Lac, as well as those specific to the Villa are cohesive, promulgated, implemented and documented via the Villa Log, Maxient, and/or NDG Incident Reports, as appropriate Coordinate and serve in on-duty shift and emergency response rotations
- Under the guidance of the Facility Manager or his/her delegate, facilitate the repair/maintenance/cleaning of the facility and document/report as needed
- In coordination with the Associate Director for Student Programs, ensure collaboration and communication with the Villa's security guards
- Develop and implement pre-departure preparations and on-site orientations for each new cohort of students in collaboration with the Associate Director for Student Programs and Notre Dame Global
- Supervise the implementation of the Villa meal plan in collaboration with ND Rome staff
- In collaboration with the Associate Director for Student Programs and the Facility Manager or his/her delegate coordinate semester turnover operations (provide kitchen inventory, facilitate the cleaning of linens, re-organize and label storage areas, etc.)
- Write letters of recommendation for students

**_ Community Leader_** -**
- Know all residents by name, meet with them personally, become familiar with their needs
- Proactively build a safe, welcoming and vibrant community for Villa residents
- Reach out in intentional ways to students disconnected from the community
- Create opportunities to highlight and celebrate the diversity of the residents and the whole community of ND students
- Support the academic mission of the University of Notre Dame Rome and undergraduate students' learning outcomes according to program
- Foster the integration of students into Roman communities
- Create opportunities for the residential staff to interact informally on a regular basis with residents and the whole ND community in Rome
- Organize and attend community programs and events in Rome for students
- Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Student Programs, organize monthly signature events unique to the Villa and manage the related budget
- Under the supervision of the Associate Director for Student Programs, promote extracurricular events/activities among all ND students
- Foster the use and study of the Italian language among students
- Collaborate with UND Rome colleagues and University partners to design opportunities to integrate faith, learning and greater engagement with the city of Rome

**_ Pastoral Leader_** -**
- Serve as active and visible witness of a committed Catholic
- Ensure opportunities for vibrant faith worship
- Supervise the planning of events in observance of the Church's liturgical calendar Establish a "ministry of presence"
- Address disciplinary issues in coordination with the Associate Director for Student Programs and the Office of Community Standards, as necessary
- Reach out to students, especially marginalized or vulnerable ones
- Mediate conflict resolution among residents
- Provide pastoral care and counseling
- Employ crisis management with students of concern and document as appropriate Collaborate with the student affairs professionals, faculty, staff and parents surrounding students of concern, as necessary

**_ University Resource_** -**
- Execute integrated procedures for monitoring and supporting student wellbeing
- Liaise with local providers and University officials to ensure that the response to student mental or physical health concerns is timely, comprehensive, coordinated and documented
- Serve as a liaison for faculty, staff, and parents
- Acquire and enhance understanding of University structure and resources Communicate information and make referrals for residents as needed
- Collaborate with Notre Dame Global, Student Affairs departments and critical University partners
- Share information with the Rome Incident Response Team, Notre Dame International, Deputy Title IX Coordinator and CARE Team, as needed and appropriate
- Supervise the development and implementation of periodic surveys to collect data and compile reports
- Serve as a member of annual task groups or on University committees, as required

**Minimum Qualifications**:

- Masters degree or equivalent
- At least two years of
