Local Unit & Position Description:
Area Iberia, Italy & Malta is part of DNV Maritime, Region West Europe.

The Area includes all classification business activities and consists of ~60 employees in 11 locations.

The Area operates with two Service Lines:

- Newbuilding and Certification and Verification of Materials and Components (NB & CMC/VMC)
- Fleet in Service (FiS) organised as part of business unit FiS West Europe.

We are looking for a Surveyor to join our NB&CMC team in Italy, reporting to the local Line Manager (Area NB/CMC Manager Italy/Malta).

**Main job responsibilities**:

- Managing our clients together with other relevant parts of our organization.
- Be part of DNV team(s) surveying our newbuilding project(s) in the country, including activities through all project phases, from planning to close-out.
- Assessment and auditing of production capabilities at manufactures acc. to different maritime schemes.
- Inspection and classification onboard of ships for compliance with DNV Rules for Classification, Statutory requirements and standards. This includes inspection of structures and equipment, witnessing testing, audit of procedures and review of documentation.
- Conduct all activities in a safe manner with due regard to own safety and safety of others.
- Maintain the confidentiality of customers’ business, processes, designs, developments, and documentation.
- Manage own time to meet the demands of the survey workload.
- Assist in service delivery improvement by communicating internal / external feedback as appropriate.

Position Qualifications:

- Master/Bachelor’s degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering (or other relevant disciplines).
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the maritime industry, working as NB/CMC/FiS Surveyor.
- Suitable qualifications with other Classification Societies will be highly beneficial (Class & Statutory Surveyor, ISM, ISPS and MLC Auditor).
- Valid driver license and acceptable driving record meeting Company’s requirements.

- Flexibility to travel at least 50% of the time, in Italy and occasionally within the Area/Region.
- Availability to medium/long time transfer, depending on business needs.
- Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job, e.g. climbing ship-side pilot ladders & in/out of tanks and confined spaces; crew boat launches in various local climate conditions.
