**What you will do**

Under broad direction from the Executive Legal Director South Europe, the Legal Counsel, Italy will act as the legal business partner for the Johnson Controls Italy business. This business reports directly to the VP &GM South Europe and is measured and is responsible for market-share gains, profitable growth, a competitive product portfolio for the Italian market, return on invested capital and overall product, installation and service quality and delivery.

**How you will do it**
- Assisting in the development and execution of strategies and tactics that enable the business to achieve its objectives
- Identify and mitigate risks to the business and help develop sound business strategies, with a focus on:

- **regular and complex commercial transactions**
- **innovative market solutions**
- **building out channels**
- **sustainable and digital product offerings**
- **management of litigation matters**
- Providing legal advice across a full range of issues that confront installation, service and product distribution businesses, including: complex commercial, litigation/disputes, intellectual property, distribution, regulatory and manufacturing
- Collaboration with the broader JCI legal team, regional legal team and a network of outside counsel to ensure cost-effective legal support.

**What we look for**
- A law degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years of in-house expertise ideally supporting a multinational company in: complex contract negotiation, litigation/dispute resolution, distribution, anti-competition, technology, product development, software, manufacturing and mergers and acquisitions
- Innovative thinking and challenging the status quo and leading organizational changes
- A problem-solving, “can do” orientation with a demonstrated ability to simplify complex situations
- Ability to influence without authority and work within a matrix legal team is a key attribute
- Ability to develop and sustain relationships with management at all levels and customer management skills are required
- Fully proficient in English and Italian.
