**Duties**:

- Provides Early Intervention Services (EIS) to infants/toddlers and their families who are eligible for early intervention under the Department of Defense criteria.
- Implements a family-centered approach to services that supports and fosters confidence and competence in families to meet the needs of their child.
- Participates in the EDIS public awareness program to include providing information on infant and toddler developmental milestones and the critical importance of the early identification of infants and toddlers with disabilities.
- Participates with a multidisciplinary team in conducting developmental assessments of children who may have complex developmental needs.
- Performs screening and evaluation of the infant/toddler level of development of all forms of communication, including expressive and receptive language, communicative intent, and gesturing, and across all developmental domains.
- Collaborates in an interdisciplinary team, including the parents, for the development of an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
- Provides EIS to infants/toddlers and their families in natural environments and develops and adapts intervention strategies to family that facilitates the child's functional development.
- Initiates appropriate contacts and prepares reports, letters, and documents as required.

- A pre-placement medical examination is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross. Advanced certification (e.g., ALS) does not supersede BLS.
- This position requires a valid driver's license.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain Military Driver's License.
- This position requires the incumbent to successfully complete and maintain credentialing and privileging requirements.
- Immunization screening is required. Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- This position has specific initial background investigation and periodic re-verification requirements since its duties require interaction with children and youth under the age of eighteen (18) years of age on a recurring basis.

- **Basic Requirements for Speech/Language Pathologist**:
**Degree**:Successful completion of a graduate or higher level degree that included 18 semester hours in the field of speech pathology with approved clinical practice. The education program must have been approved, recognized, or accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) at the time the degree was obtained.**Licensure**:This position requires a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice Speech/Language Pathology and/ or Audiology as applicable in a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
**Specialized Experience**:One year of specialized experience which includes which includes analyzing and interpreting test results in the evaluation of communicative disorders of children; delivering Speech-Language pathology services in an early intervention setting; and collaborating with individuals and groups to evaluate and resolve problems in hearing, voice, language, or speech. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
