**ROLE SUMMARY**:

- THE INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL OF MILAN is seeking an Elementary EAL/LS Teaching Assistant for a role which will commence in August 2024.**Our school**

Founded in 1958, IS Milan caters for over 900 students from more than 60 nationalities. Our campus, which opened in September 2013, incorporates a theatre, swimming pool and full-size gymnasium as well as specialist classrooms, labs, libraries, arts and music areas. All of our sections are fully authorised for International Baccalaureate (IB) programmes - Primary Years Programme (PYP) from Kindergarten to Grade 6; Middle Years Programme (MYP) from Grades 7 to 11; Diploma Programme (DP) in Grades 12 and 13. IS Milan is the most established IB world school in Italy and regularly exceeds global averages in the IBDP. In addition, we opened our Boarding House in 2018, which has added immensely to the sense of family at IS Milan.

Located near the heart of Europe, it is extremely well-connected with three major airports and easy road and rail links across the country and the continent. Although Milan is a busy commercial centre, the artistic and cultural heritage of Italy is prominent, from galleries and theatres, to its fame as a global focus for fashion, design, nightlife, cuisine and lifestyle. There is a history of sporting excellence and its location near the mountains, lakes and the Mediterranean Sea make it ideal for sporting activities as well as its renowned professional teams.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Our Elementary Teaching Assistants are skilled in teaching a range of abilities within the classroom and are able to work with small groups to help students achieve their full potential. They embrace diversity, within our international setting, ensuring that learning is inclusive of students of all nationalities, profiles and linguistic abilities. They ensure that student agency is at the centre of the learning experience, encouraging innovation and creativity, within a caring and principled learning environment.

**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE**:

- possession of a relevant university degree;
- recent experience successfully working in a Primary or Elementary setting as a Teaching Assistant or Learning Support Assistant;
- enthusiasm and passion for the role, with the ability to motivate students of all abilities;
- a high standard of spoken and written English.
