**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**

This position is responsible for managing all day-to-day nautical operations within Fleet Operations communications with the Ships Captains and the management of all non-technical operations with particular focus on Maritime Safety Compliance Environment Internal Audit New Build Human Resources as well as with UK and US Nautical and Technical Operations and Global Marine Operations Global Technical Solutions support As Fleet Captain supervises the performance of the Masters and the Senior Marine Officers and servers as their first and main point of shore side contact Assists the VP Marine Operations in all fleet wide maritime nautical and port matters related to Marine Operations He/she should be readily available for consultation and support to the fleet especially for Masters as required

The Fleet Captain will develop and oversee implementation of various programs as set forth by the VP Marine Operations and the GMO Leadership including but not limited to injury prevention workplace safety initiatives and marine infrastructure issues The Fleet Captain will also assist the VP Marine Operations in performance appraisals of onboard Senior Leaders and succession planning ensuring hiring practices align with each brand’s strategy for inclusion and diversity employment The Fleet Captain will work closely with the shipboard leadership Shoreside departmental groups of each of the Brands (TUIC & Hapag Lloyd Cruises) and analysts to use data and operational feedback to constantly review results and trends with an aim to continuously optimization operation Will act as Deputy in communication with onboard teams and in the absence of the VP Marine Operations (GFM) will participate in Situational Management / Sit Rep calls

**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
1 Monitors the performance of each Master through personal contact Conduct annual Master’s performance appraisals Provide in-person coaching to new Captains

2 Participates and has a leading role in the evaluation and development of vessel itineraries

3 Coordinates the development and proper execution of all non-technical maintenance programs and schedules throughout the fleet

4 Develops and leads project management for Marine Ops special projects relating to but not limited to safety ports and marine infrastructure

5 Responsible for the implementation and delivery of safety training programs for Marine Officers

6 Coordinates and oversees evaluation of assets ship inspections and performance evaluations for Deck Department

7 Participates in corporate FOCUS Maritime Safety Working Groups

8 Ensures that each ship is operated safely effectively and efficiently and meets all key targets for safety (Incidents Corrective Actions Internal / External Audits KPIs and Inspections) expenses management crew satisfaction and workplace safety

9 Works closely with the Technical Team Ship Managers Refurbishment Project Manager and other specialists to create a strategic plan to ensure each ship is well maintained

10 Continuously tracks fleet safety and KPI performance and generates routine data driven updates and reports to appropriate shoreside and shipboard leadership personnel that will drive decision making

11 Understands the SQM and responsibilities in the Safety Organization according to the Emergency Plan and Station Bill Responsible to carry out the assigned responsibilities in case of a Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) as described in the Situation Management Plan

12 Ensures adherence to Navigation Policy & Procedures (NPP) across the fleet

13 Leads and assists in root cause analysis and lessons learned for all maritime accidents incidents and near misses

14 Has overall responsibility for ensuring the preparation of ships when transitioning to and/or operating in EMEA and APAC markets

15 Represents Marine operations in situation management / sitrep calls and is expected to contribute to making critical decision to ensure safe outcome and the best possible guest experience on ships impacted by unusual situations

16 Reviews and analyzes internal and external audit and inspection reports and disseminates information for follow up and continuous improvement

17 Supports the Marine KPI targets setting process

18 Leads efforts and supports port vetting port infrastructure and port development for future brand deployments

19 Ensures the ship is in regulatory compliance and acts as liaison with Flag State Classification Societies USCG ILO USPH and other applicable regulatory guidelines

20 Works with the Global Energy Team to ensure follow up on efficiency and optimization tools and projects (ENIRAM/ABB/WARTSILA)

21 Maintains the day-to-day contact with all TUI & Hapag Lloyd / ship Captains act as a liaison between the vessels and Marine Operations and as advisor/mentor to Staff Captains identified for promotion to Captains
