The purpose of this post is to provide support in the administration of the UNICC’s Storage and Backup infrastructure as well as customer dedicated systems.Objectives of the Programme:
The objectives of the Centre, as stated by its mandate, are to provide information and communication technology (ICT) services (including training) on an inter-organizational basis.Main duties and responsibilities:
The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Team Lead, Infrastructure Operations team, and under the guidance of the Head, Infrastructure and Platform Operations Unit within Operations Division and in close collaboration with the Infrastructure, Platform, Networking, Data Center Operations support teams.The incumbent will perform the following duties:
Provide operational support in the administration of the UNICC’s Storage and Backup systems as well as UNICC’s customer dedicated systems, including but not limited to:
Provide technical support to the storage and backup infrastructure systems (storage provisioning, host integration, configuration of backup clients, schedules, and retentions, etc.)Monitor, analyse and optimize the performances of the Backup, Storage and SAN supported systemsCoordinate with vendors the replacement of failed supported systems and componentsCreate and maintain detailed technical and graphical documentation as neededParticipate in the development/update of tools and scripts to improve the automation of the supported systemsAssist with the resolution of incidents and problems, service requests as per service level metrics and targets; escalate problems to the appropriate technical support team as per escalation procedureParticipate in the deployment of new projects related to backup and storage solutions for UNICC and customersParticipate in service coverage arrangement such as standy-by duty services and other support coverage arrangements, if and when requiredThe incumbent may be required to act as Officer-In-Charge of the Unit, during the absence of the Team LeaderProvide other ad hoc support either within your team or in other teams as required - this includes the participation in special projects or support to service delivery for short period of time on a part-timeor full time basis upon request from the senior management Recruitment Profile Experience and Skills required:
Essential:
Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience in information technology or related areas, including in operating and maintaining enterprise Storage and Backup environments and related services in a complex heterogenous environmentExcellent experience in administering and troubleshooting storage arrays from different vendors (i.e., HP 3PAR, DELL Compellent and Netapp)Excellent knowledge in the installation and administration of Market Leaders Enterprise Backup systems and solutionsSolid understanding and knowledge of storage technologiesSound technical knowledge of storage replication technologies and host integration best practicesGood understanding and knowledge of networking technologiesWorking knowledge in shell scripting and automation toolsAbility to work under pressure with minimum supervisionCustomer-centric approach to delivery and problem solving Desirable:
Experience with Hyper Converged Infrastructure or Software Defined Storage solutions is an advantageGood presentation skills and ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical audienceExperience with service reporting and business analyticsGood knowledge of service management methodology Education:
