**About the position**:
Angela Bachi group at IFOM, Milan (Italy), has an opening for a PhD student in molecular oncology to develop a project supported by AIRC IG grant on the role of BACE2 in cancer.

**Ongoing research project**:
Our lab has18 recently discovered that BACE2-dependent amyloid aggregates are produced by melanoma cells. We also found that these amyloid activate mechanotransduction and promote cancer cells proliferation and drug susceptibility (Matafora et al 2020, Farris et al 2021).more recently, we have also collected evidences that BACE2 acticvity is linked to lipid metabolism rewing.
Starting from these observations, the student will develop the project with the aim of better understanding the molecular mechanism linking amyloid production to mechano transduction, lipid metabolism and cancer progression by combining molecular biology and omics techniques.

**Profile description**:
We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student with a biological/biotechnological background and hands on experience on molecular biology, biochemistry and proteomics/metabolomics techniques.

**PhD Programme**:
IFOM ETS/The Open University PhD Programme in Fundamentals of Cancer Biology.
