Magnetics Scientist/Designer

Allegro High Voltage Business Unit has an opening for a Magnetics Design Scientist/Engineer to specify, design, and prototype integrated high frequency magnetics for our isolated, self-powered gate drivers product line.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities:_

Lead magnet development projects in response to the needs of new products in development.

Develop transformer structures from initial concept through computer aid analysis, detailed 3D modeling and prototype design.

Define and conduct prototypes testing, which includes detailed magnetic measurement, analysis of results, design adjustments, and final approval.

Work within a larger team and independently; collaborate with silicon design engineering and packaging engineering for interfaces definitions and integration; systems engineering for product definition.

May support the development of purchase specifications and fabrication drawings, system interface documents, core fabrication, assembly, testing, installation, and commissioning.
- Position Requirements_

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Engineering, or other relevant discipline plus two years related experience OR Master’s degree in related discipline plus one year related experience.

Experience in the design of high frequency magnetic structures for power conversion is a big plus.

Experience in 2D and 3D finite element simulations.

Experience with Lab tools for magnetic structures measurements and characterization (i.e.: RCL meters).

Clear and concise written and oral communication skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
An advanced degree (PhD or Masters) degree in Physics, Engineering, or other relevant discipline.

Experience in power conversion magnetics design using finite element simulations.

Experience with creative engineering projects collaborating with a team to develop and build unique magnetic structures.

Experience with magnetic materials properties and fabrication technology.

Experience with 3D modeling.

Proficient in ANSYS or equivalent thermal and stress engineering analysis software and generating engineering analysis reports.
