We are currently looking for an exceptional **Head of Math Department** from August 2023.

We are looking for passionate teachers who give their students hope for the future and can help them grow and be better than their previous best.

**Qualifications requested**
- A relevant bachelor’s degree and teacher qualification (eg: Maths, Physics, or another related field from an accredited, state-approved programme).
- Right to work in Italy (EU passport or valid Italian work VISA).
- Immaculate police check(s).

**Contract Duration**

Fixed-term, with the possibility for extension.

**Experience**
- A minimum of two years of recent and relevant experience in a comparable school environment.
- Specialist skills & knowledge.
- Previous experience as Head of Department.
- Proven ability to plan and deliver innovative inquiry-based lessons.
- Demonstrated ability to use digital tools and resources effectively to enhance learning.
- Planning and organisational skills.
- Fluent level English: reading, speaking, writing (CEFR level C1-C2).

**Job description - Head of Department responsibilities**
- Lead and manage the Mathematics department.
- Work alongside teachers during the planning and delivery of units to strategically drive improved learning.
- Monitor students’ work and assessment across the department.
- Oversee the provision of summative assessments and end-of-year assessments and coordinate marking schemes.
- Observe lessons and provide constructive feedback.
- Monitor and analyse student progress and achievement in Mathematics.
- Keep the relevant Head of Programme informed of matters concerning the department and be available.
- Identify needs and priorities for staff training.

**Job description - Classroom teaching responsibilities**
- Establish classroom environments that are creative, focused, engaging and which embody IB philosophy and the mission statement of the school.
- Use flexible teaching methodologies that engage students with diverse learning styles.
- Lead by example, demonstrate the IB learner profile in action and guide students towards becoming open-minded, compassionate, thoughtful learners with a global perspective.
- Assess and respond to student abilities and progress, adapting their approach with different teaching styles.
- Undertake lesson preparation, set/mark examinations, write student reports, and develop assessments aligned to the IB requirements and the school calendar.
- Effective use of the learning management system.
- Set and mark students’ work accurately and promptly, giving guidance and work according to their needs, supporting their development and progression.
- Provide regular and supportive feedback to students and parents.
- Support students' personal development and wellbeing and seek support from the School Counsellor and Programme Heads where welfare concerns are identified.
