Job purpose

The Sales Account Representative is a vital member of the Sales Team. The position shares accountability for bookings and revenue with the Sales Engineers in the territory. The position requires a highly responsive and proactive individual. It provides a single customer point of contact to manage the long-term customer relationship, in coordination with the Sales Engineers.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
- Contributes to the achievement of sales goals and targets in assigned territory.
- Implements territory sales call plan, in coordination with other Account Management Team members, to build existing customer relationships and to identify and qualify prospects through maintenance of the CRM sales database.
- Directly sell aftermarket products and services, including a wide range of accessories, software, software services, and retrofits.
- Provides small direct mail fulfillment of customer requests in assigned territory. Manages larger direct mail fulfillment within the territory.
- Coordinates and attends product demonstrations.
- Coordinate product and/or industry-focused sales promotions.
- Coordinate/prepare quotations, covering letters, technical descriptions, and literature into customer proposals.
- Coordinate with order entry, shipping departments, and customers.
- Manage after-sales customer satisfaction in coordination with other departments to ensure payment delays are kept to a minimum.

Key Competencies (includes skills)
- Technical skills acquired through three years or equivalent in a customer service or inside sales support position, preferably in a technical environment.
- Strong telephone interpersonal skills.
- Ability to thrive in a team goal environment.
- Ability to assimilate technical information.
- Ideally educated to ‘A’ level
- Enthusiasm, self-motivation and ambition.
- Competitive personality with a will to win.
- Flexible with the ability to work calmly under pressure to meet deadlines.

**Qualifications**:
‘A’ level or Bachelor’s degree in engineering (preferably Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science)** **or equivalent with appropriate experience in either a Technical or Sales environment. Alternatively, relevant experience working with Instron.

Additional Information

Key Experiences

Experience in working with materials testing equipment as well as demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment. Alternatively, requires 2 to 3 years of related experience in selling similar equipment.

Working conditions
- Normal office environment. Telephone and remote video meetings / communication with customers and colleagues in the team.
- Requirement to travel to customer sites to understand their environment and how Instron adds value.
