For our prime client in the Automotive industry we are looking for an
ELECTRONIC DESIGNER
who will work in the Electronic Design Department of Propulsion Solutions Business Line. The Electronic Designer is responsible for the design of the electronic circuits used in the Electronic Control Units (ECU) over all the life cycle of the product, from the offer phase to the start of production, until product maturity. He also supports the activities of other departments and product lines involved in the ECU development. The tasks of the electronic designer also include the definition of the HW architecture of the ECU in compliance with the ISO 26262 standard, with the generation of the related workproducts.

Electronic Designer main activities/responsibilities:

- Analysis and definition of ECU HW architecture in compliance with customer requirements and international standards (e.g. ISO 26262).
- Analysis in advance of new electronic components suitable for powertrain ECUs.
- Selection of electronic components aimed at fulfilling the functional requirements of the ECU.
- Sizing of electronic circuits, with generation of project design manual.
- Worst case estimation of values and tolerances foreseen on electrical quantities.
- Execution of electrical and behavioral simulations.
- Execution of FMEDA, FTA, PMHF, ADF and other tasks related to ISO 26262 standard.
- Estimation of dissipated power and related thermal behavior of ECU’s electronic components.
- Drawing and verification of the ECU’s electrical schematic.
- Definition of auxiliary test equipment needed for ECU verification and validation (e.g. loadbox, wiring harness, test box, etc.);
- Detailed functional debug of electronic circuits and components implemented in the ECU.
- Generation of ECU electrical validation test plan.
- Execution of the electrical tests foreseen by the validation plan or support and control of their execution.
- Support for 3rd level analysis of returned parts form field.
- Support for analysis and introduction of 2nd source / multi-source components. - Execution of electrical tests related to modification / replacement of electronic components (PCN / PTN);
- Support the activities of other departments involved in product development (e.g. FMEA and critical parameters definition, EOL test program design, ECU firmware configuration, etc.)

Required technical skills:

- General electronics for analog and digital circuits design.
- Synthesis of electronic circuits made up of discrete components and ASICs.
- Electronics for driving solenoid valves, DC motors, three phase motors.
- Typical microcontroller and logic core architectures.
- Power supplies architectures (e.g. linear, switching);
- Sizing of electronic components based on worst case analysis (temperature, supply voltage, parameters tolerance, etc.);
- Estimation and analysis of electronic components power dissipation.
- Commonly used automotive serial communication interfaces (e.g. CAN, LIN, SPI, SENT, PSI5, Ethernet, etc.);
- Electronic laboratory equipment use (power supplies, ammeters, oscilloscopes, etc.).
- ISO 26262 standard for automotive safety (focus on standard’s HW related Part 5).
- Basics of FMEDA, FTA, PMHF, ADF and other work-products related to the Part 5 of the ISO 26262 standard.
- Basics of electronic FMEA and FTA.
- Electronic design techniques aimed at EMC and power/signal integrity robustness.
- Definition and execution of a plan of measurements for the electronic verification and validation of the product.
- Basics of electromagnetic compatibility measurements for product compliance certification with international standards (e.g. ISO 16750, ISO 7637, ISO 16605, CISPR 25, etc.).
- PSPICE electrical simulations.
- Electrical schematic entry tools (Cadence HDL Design entry preferred).
