JOB PURPOSE/ROLE

Allianz SE Branch Rome is seeking a Research Analyst for Atmospheric perils, to support Natural Catastrophe R&D. In this role you will help define and implement best practices, supporting Allianz SE Reinsurance, and operating entities globally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support development and maintenance of hazard and pricing layers for underwriting
- Support in-house Cat model developments and maintenance
- Cat model testing, validations and analytics
- Support post-event loss analytics and services
- Consulting on Nat Cat related topics, with entities across the Allianz Group

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KEY SKILLS
- Master's Degree in atmospheric science, alternatively engineering/geoscience degree with specific experience relating to atmospheric perils; PhD in relevant field would be an advantage
- Previous Nat Cat industry experience is an advantage (e.g. 1 to 3 years)
- Experience with development and usage of state-of-the-art cat models
- Experience in handling and analysis of large data sets including database technologies
- Understanding of (re)insurance business and experience with Nat Cat pricing would be an advantage
- Good mathematical and statistical knowledge, ability to solve complex analytical problems
- Programming skills in high-level and scripting languages
- Good skills in GIS analytics and tools, experience with hazard maps.
- Good communication and presentation skills to explain complex topics to all relevant parties including C-level
- Self-motivation and committed working style
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
