Postdoctoral Researcher

IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, Italy, is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Laboratory of Circulating Tumor Cells led by Dr. Emanuela Fina and affiliated to the Thoracic Surgery Unit of OSR Cancer Center. Researchers who join the research lab become a part of a multidisciplinary group committed to clinical research in Oncology and carry out research projects focused on the molecular and functional analysis of Circulating Tumor Cells in several types of cancer.

**Main activities**:
Active participation in experiment design;
Scientific writing (abstracts, articles, projects);
Design/optimization and execution of technical protocols for isolation of live and fixed rare cells from blood samples, in collaboration with the other lab members;
Design/optimization and execution of technical protocols for the development and study of preclinical and cancer metastasis models, in collaboration with the other lab members;
Design/optimization and execution of technical protocols for single cell sequencing;
Data presentation in lab meetings, departmental seminars and national/international conferences;
Management of the research lab spaces, equipment, instruments, and reagents, in collaboration with the lab technician and other lab members;
Design/execution of general research lab protocols, e.g. 2D and 3D cell culture, single-cell manipulation, functional assays, biochemical assays, protein analysis, immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence staining, image acquisition and analysis, manipulation of mouse models, DNA and RNA extraction/amplification, next generation sequencing, genome editing, chromatin immunoprecipitation, etc., in collaboration with the other lab members and the institutional services/facilities;
Preparation and management of databases, in collaboration with the lab technician and other group members;
Assistance to the principal investigator’s project management activities.

**Who we are looking for**:
Junior or Senior Postdocs with previous working experience or strong interest in experimental/clinical cancer research and in molecular oncology;
Creativity and problem-solving skills;
Critical and analytical thinking;
Written/oral communication ability in English;
Knowledge of good clinical practices, data protection rules, animal care guidelines, and intellectual property rights;
Ability to independently design experiments

Ability to independently write, set up, optimize and execute technical protocols;
Experience or willing to learn and perform protocols for clinical sample analysis, single-cell isolation and sequencing, and animal experimentation;
Management and organizational skills;
Ability to both lead the activities of a team and to work in team, based on project goals and priorities;
Networking skills and aptitude to collaborative interaction with the institutional facilities, services and offices.
