Innovation, continuous research, digital industry, and sustainability are the pillars of its global business. Experienced tutors in their field will guide you, allowing you to deepen theoretical knowledge and develop your thesis, preparing you for future professional challenges. Proposed thesis topics at Leonardo span a wide range of technological, research, and innovation areas: from Artificial Intelligence to High-Performance Computing, from Cyber Security to Materials Engineering, including aerospace sectors. You will be able to explore the most cutting-edge areas of your field of study, with creativity and an innovative spirit. To support you during this experience, which will last a maximum of six months, an expense reimbursement is also provided. We are looking for 1 young student to join us for an internship with the goal of developing their thesis on the topic of "Design and implementation of models for precise interaction in virtual and complex environments" at the Turin site. The purpose of this thesis is to identify and implement generalized interaction models for every type of component that involve natural and intuitive gestures from the user, avoiding unwanted actions on neighboring components. In a virtual environment, there are cases where interaction is ambiguous because different actions can be performed on the same object, so it is necessary to identify a method to discriminate which action the user wants to take in advance. For example, in the case of removing a panel inside the cockpit, you must first extract it along a slide, and finally, you can freely remove the object; at the point of maximum extraction, there are two possible actions: insertion and removal. The goal is to find a way to enable only the desired action in a natural and intuitive manner. The main activities will include:
- Analysis of requirements through their decomposition levels;
- Study of the state of the art of available interaction models for the currently adopted technology (Godot Engine);
- Development of a new set of interaction models or extension of existing ones;
- Interaction with the SW development team to ensure interoperability between proprietary projects;
- Preparation of technical documentation and guidelines for the adoption of new models. Educational Qualification: Master's Degree in Computer Engineering or Computer Science. Seniority: Junior Technical Knowledge and
Skills:
- Basic knowledge of technologies and languages for Virtual Reality. Behavioral Competencies:
- Proactivity;
- Ability to work in a team;
- Learning orientation;
- Flexibility;
- Communication;
- Results orientation. Language Knowledge:
- Good knowledge of written and spoken English, level B2/C1. Computer Knowledge:
- Good knowledge of the C# language;
- Preferable knowledge of the Godot Engine game engine and the gdscript language. How does the selection process work? Following the collection of applications, CVs that best match the required qualifications are evaluated and identified. Selected candidates will have an introductory interview with the Human Resources team and with the Business, where technical topics, motivation, and personal aptitudes will be explored. At the end of the process, feedback will be provided to the person, whether the outcome is positive or negative. We look forward to your application. Collaborating with us, you will constantly face the challenges of high technology, enhance your skills, and build a professional path of excellence. Seniority: Junior Primary
