Workload Automation Lab Services Senior Consultant/ Architect

Summary

HCL Workload Automation Lab services team is looking for a Lab Services senior Consultant to help drive business growth through Professional services delivery and Migration Center of Excellence (COE) improvement. The HCL Software Lab Services team is a global organization responsible for delivering Professional Services to enable customers to gain their business values quickly by implementing HCL Workload Automation Solution.

Primary Focus for this Senior Consultant /Architect will be providing expert consultancy to customer, owning migration and implementation projects from initial client assessment and Architecture design thru any project successful completion, partnering with other teams in the organization and with the client.

Role, Characteristics and responsibilities:

The Workload Automation Senior Consultant - Architect is a customer-facing role that:

- Will engage directly with clients to assess automation needs, design robust architectures, and deliver best-in-class implementations and migrations that enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
- Leads the design, architecture, and deployment of IBM Workload Scheduler (IWS) and HCL Workload Automation (HWA) solutions.
- Conduct client workshops, assessments, and requirement gathering sessions to identify automation opportunities and align technical solutions to business needs.
- Define integration strategies for connecting workload automation platforms with ERP systems, cloud platforms, and DevOps pipelines.
- Perform migrations and upgrades from Customer incumbent schedulers to HCL Workload Automation / IWS latest versions.
- Optimize scheduling environments for performance, scalability, and resilience.
- Develop automation best practices, governance models, and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with client IT teams, project managers, and other technical architects to ensure seamless delivery.
- Mentor junior consultants and provide subject matter expertise across projects.
- Stay up-to-date with HCL and IBM roadmap updates, new features, and licensing models.
- Takes a solution and consultative approach to identify, progress, implement and close projects at customer site, working closely across the HCL Software, as well as with the broader HCL Technologies teams.
- Provides proactive technical and architectural support and advise to customers and has ownership for resolving technical issues that may arise during customer projects
- Understanding customer needs transforms them in requirements and develops Architectures .
- Delivers lab services billable consulting work, being measured on Billable Utilization rate as a function of time-reporting
- Exhibits a strong communication style with maturity to be able to adjust his style to get the best from the situation
- Has excellent presentation skills, and will be proficient in the use of a variety of presentation tools
- Has good self-awareness and will be able to identify when influencing and/ or negotiation skills are needed.
- Has experience of developing accurate and concise project documentation that will be used by colleagues and customers
- Has an improvement focused approach and will recommend improvements to process and tools
- Has experience delivering and leading technical engagements, has the technical knowledge and the maturity to be accepted as expert in his field of technology.
- Has A flexible approach to work to ensure that projects are completed in scope and on time.
- The Professional Consultant might be required to travel and work at customer sites
- He will also engage in the pre-sale cycle and will provide Infrastructure consultancy, including audits and assessments to support the sales team in their proposals.

Required Skills (Qualifications & Experience):

- 10+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Workload Scheduler (Tivoli Workload Scheduler) and/or HCL Workload Automation.
- Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise workload automation architectures in hybrid (on-prem/cloud) environments.
- Strong understanding of scheduling, orchestration, and automation concepts including job streams, dependencies, event rules, and calendar management.
- Experience integrating IWS/HWA with tools such as SAP, Oracle, AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Jenkins, ServiceNow, or equivalent.
- Proficiency with UNIX/Linux and Windows environments, scripting (Shell, Python, PowerShell), and API integrations (REST/SOAP).
- Solid understanding of high availability, disaster recovery, and performance tuning for automation platforms.
- Experience in installing and upgrading IWS / HWA environments to older version to newer version.
- IWS / HWA agent’s installations (FTA, DA, XA, SA) in Windows and Unix environments and expert in SSL certificate implementation.
- Good knowledge and experience of Customer certificate integration.
- Strong communication and consulting skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive stakeholders.
- Sound knowledge on scripting and familiarity with Windows/UNIX environment. Creation/Modification of shell, python, windows scripts in new platforms.
- Expert knowledge in IWS / HWA architecture and components.
- Adding/modifying/updating of jobs on IWS / HWA using command line interface (conman and composure).
- Sound knowledge on Scheduling jobs that help in conversion of jobs from competitor tools to HWA. Bulk job creation, modification. Scheduling jobs for Plugins / applications like SAP, People soft etc.
- Strong communication and consulting skills with the ability to engage both technical and executive stakeholders.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have:

- HCL Workload Automation certification or IBM Certified Solution Architect – Workload Automation.
- Experience with migration projects (e.g., TWS to HWA , Migrating from competition tools like Autosys, Control-M, Redwood, Automic etc.
- Knowledge of HCL Universal Orchestrator.
- Familiarity with ITSM / ITIL processes.
- Exposure to AI-driven or event-based workload automation enhancements.

Education:

- Bachelor’s /Master degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- ITIL Certification (preferred)

Travel:

- 25% to 50% travel required
