Within the activities of the Quantum Technologies, Optronics & Materials Laboratories group, we are looking for a Researcher in the field of optical materials and characterization of integrated photonic circuits, for our office in Campi Bisenzio (FI). The person will be responsible for the following activities:
- Experimental activities on materials, electro-optical and photonic devices, including:
- Assembly, alignment, and validation of optical systems and experimental demonstrators, including the definition of optical benches and the selection of commercial optical elements.
- Optical, electrical, and RF characterization of photonic materials and devices (integrated photonic circuits, metasurfaces, optical coatings).
- Development of electronic and RF interfaces for testing and controlling photonic devices.
- Prototyping of systems and experimental validation of photonic technologies.
- Data analysis and report writing.

Education:
Master's/Specialist degree in Physics, Physical Engineering, Materials Science and Technology, or related disciplines. A Ph.
D. is considered a plus. Seniority: Expert (3

skills:
- Experience with optical and RF laboratory instrumentation, including Vector Network Analyzer (VNA), Oscilloscope, FTIR Spectrometer, Optical Spectrum Analyzers, Power meter, Signal generators for device characterization;
- Practical experience with optical bench experiments, including optical alignment, free-space optics, fiber coupling, use of precision positioning stages, and opto-mechanical components;
- Experience in experimental characterization of optical materials and photonic devices, including transmission, loss, and spectrum measurements for integrated photonics and optical coatings;
- Practical experience with electronic and RF interfaces for photonic devices, electrical driving, and integration with laboratory instrumentation;
- Ability to use scientific programming tools (such as Python or MATLAB) for measurement automation, analysis, processing, and data visualization;
- Experience with optical fiber manipulation, sample preparation, and troubleshooting experimental problems in photonics and optoelectronics laboratories;
- Experience in nanofabrication of photonic components in a cleanroom is a plus. Soft
