- Leonardo is an international industrial group, among the world leaders in Aerospace, Defense and Security, that creates multi-domain technological capabilities in Helicopters, Aircraft, Aerostructures, Electronics, Cyber Security and Space. With over 60,000 employees worldwide, the company has a solid industrial presence in Italy, the United Kingdom, Poland, the United States, and operates in 150 countries also through subsidiaries, joint ventures and shareholdings. As a protagonist in the main strategic programs globally, it is a technological and industrial partner for Governments, Defense Administrations, Institutions and companies. Leonardo is one of the strategic industrial partners of the GCAP (Global Combat Air Programme), together with the British BAE Systems and the Japanese Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, aimed at the development and implementation of a new generation air system, defined as a “system of systems”. Used for multi-domain operations in defense, the system will feature a “core platform” connected with other peripheral “adjuncts” systems, both piloted and unpiloted. The program, among the most challenging and futuristic for the aerospace and defense industry, will drive the technological revolution that will characterize the sector over the next fifty years. A challenge aimed at strengthening the technological and industrial sovereignty of the countries involved, because it aims to identify and make available those innovative enabling technologies that will ensure the generational leap, generating positive returns and economic and social progress for the entire country system, benefiting new generations. The resources who will work within this program will have the opportunity to access a professional growth path in an international and technologically advanced context. Within the General Systems & Air Vehicle SW Area, we are looking for a Software Engineer – AI & Neural Networks Certification for our Turin site. Main Activities:
- Monitor and share with the team the evolution of regulations, standards and guidelines applicable to the use of neural networks in the aeronautical and defense sectors, including AI Act, EASA AI Roadmap, EASA CoDANN, EuroCAE (e.g. ED-76B), ISO/IEC TR 5469 and other applicable regulatory references.
- Support the Team Leader in defining hybrid control architectures, integrating decision-making logic and redundant systems based on consolidated approaches with statistical calculation models based on neural networks. The resource will contribute to defining solutions characterized by high modularity, scalability and interchangeability, capable of supporting Agile approaches and effectively responding to different customer needs. Particular attention will be paid to the definition of the Operational Design Domain (ODD) and its codomain, as well as the development of validation systems and strategies based, where applicable, on formal methods.
- Analyze system specifications (e.g. Functional Requirements Document) in order to define implementation and verification strategies for both traditional software and solutions based on artificial intelligence, identifying, selecting and, where necessary, configuring or developing the most appropriate toolchain for each module.
- Define software specifications (e.g. Software Requirements Specification), architectures, design and implementation, integrating the solutions necessary for the automation of test cases and procedures, with the aim of maximizing efficiency in the development and execution phases of Requirement Based Tests (RBT).
- Design and implement automations for the execution of RBTs, distributing verification activities between simulators in host environments and real platforms. The resource will use debug and trace systems, including emulators connected via JTAG or trace port, exploiting the potential offered by virtualization and hardware/software-in-the-loop techniques.
- Design and perform compatibility and adequacy checks of the software with respect to the target platform, with particular attention to the evaluation of performance and available resources, such as CPU load, timing, Stack, RAM and ROM.
