About the Role

Clyde Space Limited is seeking a highly skilled FPGA Design Engineer to join our team in South Africa. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, testing, and deploying our world-class RF communication systems for satellites and associated ground systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and code FPGA systems using hardware description languages and embedded software for Multi-Processor System-on-Chip (MPSoC) devices
  • System engineer of communication subsystems using SDR and DSP techniques
  • Produce technical documentation, including specifications, test procedures, and design reports
  • Analyse designs for errors and efficiency, and generate test benches to validate designs
  • Collaborate with other engineers on technical and design issues
Requirements
  • Proven track record in industry with FPGA design, including design lifecycle, Vivado/Libero/ModelSim design tool flow, and FPGA design for network applications
  • Proficiency with VHDL and Tcl scripting language
  • Ability to transition between hardware languages and abstraction layers as needed
  • Proficient in C programming with experience in developing embedded systems
  • Proficiency in developing tools in Python to assist with testing and deployment of embedded systems
  • Working knowledge of modern version control systems, such as Git
  • Excellent communication skills, with ability to engage with technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within cross-cultural teams
  • Ability to prioritise workload in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines
