RINA is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our dynamic team within the Energy Engineering Solutions Division.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate will exhibit exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and a strong sense of responsibility for their technical tasks. You will be expected to work both independently and collaboratively, managing projects within the division while coordinating with colleagues. This position involves engaging in complex offshore and onshore initiatives, offering expert advice on ground characterization and foundation design. As part of a global team, you will strive to deliver outstanding results in a fast-paced and evolving business landscape.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead the development of geotechnical engineering projects from initial phases through to detailed design, including overseeing projects managed by others under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Design various structures including foundations and retaining walls, assess slope stability, and engage in underground structure design.
- Create finite element or difference models for both static and dynamic evaluations.
- Collect soil and rock samples to analyze compressibility, strength, and other critical factors influencing structural performance.
- Formulate project timelines and deliverable schedules with the support of senior engineers.
- Prepare comprehensive technical documentation including reports, performance assessments, and engineering drawings.
- Compile progress reports detailing technical advancements.
- Adhere to the Quality Policy and ensure compliance with the RINA Quality Management System (QMS). #LI-AC2

Educational Background

A Master's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering is required.

Professional Experience

Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years in geotechnical engineering, demonstrating a solid history of project development and design. A PhD is preferred. Experience with offshore projects is advantageous.

Technical Expertise:

Strong command of geotechnical engineering principles, particularly in foundation and retaining structure design, slope stability, and underground structures. Proficient in developing finite element or difference models for analytical purposes. Skilled in interpreting laboratory test results to assess compressibility, strength, and other factors affecting structural integrity. Familiarity with leading geotechnical software packages (e.g., Plaxis, Gint, GRLWeap, DeepSoil) or programming languages is a plus. Willingness to participate in offshore campaigns aboard vessels/platforms for periods of 30-40 days, up to twice a year. Conduct onshore and offshore geotechnical evaluations, including foundation design, soil-structure interaction, and geohazard assessments.

Offshore Responsibilities:

Availability for offshore assignments aboard vessels/platforms for a maximum of 30-40 days, occurring 1-2 times annually.
