About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to join our Manufacturing Science department at Takeda Rieti. As a Data Scientist, you will play a key role in driving local digital data science initiatives and expanding knowledge for effective process monitoring and process improvement optimizations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and drive local digital data science initiatives according to prioritization, focusing on yield improvement, real-time monitoring, and predictive process performance.
  • Unlock new knowledge for effective process monitoring and process improvement optimizations through descriptive statistics and visualization, statistical process control, and out-of-the-box tools.
  • Foster the adoption and development of automated pipelines for real-time data retrieval and analysis, collaborating with local teams, DD&T, Engineering, Quality, and global GMS data science.
  • Partner with local functions and provide a link between local and global data science teams, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Manage and execute reporting activities, particularly for Power BI dashboards related to yield and process monitoring.
  • Support and participate in global/functional/local GMS data science community, driving innovation and knowledge sharing.
  • Drive necessary local trainings to ensure data science capabilities are up-to-date and aligned with business needs.
  • Translate business problems into opportunities and effectively communicate findings with stakeholders, ensuring data-driven decision making.
  • Assure the continuous improvement of digital data repositories, ensuring data quality and integrity.
Requirements
  • Good mathematical and statistical knowledge, with a strong understanding of data analysis and interpretation.
  • Proven experience in manipulating large datasets and developing/ implementing machine learning/deep learning algorithms and main frameworks.
  • Respective coding skills in Python/R, with proficiency in database languages (SQL) and understanding of data models and databases.
  • Experience with time series data analysis is preferred, as well as familiarity with cloud computing and BI tools such as Power BI, Qlik, etc.
  • Strategic enterprise thinking, with the ability to find innovative ways to serve patients, build reputation, and trust.
  • Extensive capabilities to translate business needs into data analytics concepts and vice versa.
  • Project management skills, with excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as influencing skills.
  • Act as a driver to raise awareness and shift the paradigm, actively contributing to the digital transformation.
  • Analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with a strong ability to analyze complex data sets and identify insights.
Education and Experience
  • Master/MBA and/or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or other scientific disciplines.
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in data analysis-related positions or equivalent academic experience/course record.
  • Hands-on experience in applying and executing artificial intelligence/deep learning, machine learning, big data, and digital with respective programming knowledge.
  • Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory, with an advantage for those with contributions to GitHub repositories and Stack Overflow, and participation in competitions, e.g., on Kaggle, data challenges, hackathons.
