FAO is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Fisheries and Aquaculture Consultant to provide technical support to the development of the fisheries and aquaculture programme in the Caribbean region.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide technical oversight for the implementation of selected fisheries and aquaculture projects, including technical backstopping missions and progress reporting.
- Identify challenges, opportunities, and gaps in the fisheries and aquaculture sector, and develop advice to SLC member countries on sustainable strategies for fisheries management, stock recovery, and aquaculture practices.
- Support the development and implementation of training workshops for stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and private sector operators.
- Participate in resource mobilization activities in accordance with the FAO Corporate strategy.
- Contribute with fisheries and aquaculture inputs to regional events/fora as required.
- Advanced degree in Fisheries Science, Marine Biology, Aquaculture, Environmental Management, or a related field.
- 5 to 10 years (Category B) of experience in fisheries and aquaculture management, with a strong emphasis on sustainability.

- Depth of knowledge of current global issues, trends, constraints and research needs related to sustainable aquaculture.
- Experience in organizing national and regional meetings, seminars and training courses.
- In-depth knowledge of international fisheries management policies and frameworks.
- Proven track record in providing strategic advice and capacity-building in the fisheries and aquaculture sector.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and project management skills.
