ECMWF is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Professional to support the development and operation of its on-premises cloud computing services. The successful candidate will work as part of the Cloud Infrastructure team, collaborating with other sections and departments to ensure proper integration with our cloud environments.
The primary responsibilities include monitoring, managing, and optimizing our on-premises cloud solutions based on OpenStack and VSphere. This includes optimizing performance, collaborating with vendors and external partners, and providing support to users. Additionally, the professional will participate in identifying and finding solutions to problems, working closely with Development teams.
We are looking for an individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who can understand complex requirements and communicate effectively. Good analytical and problem-solving skills, along with a proactive approach, are essential. The ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision, flexibility to adapt to changing organisational priorities, and dedication to working in a small team are also required.
A strong background in Linux-based systems and experience with OpenStack, vSphere, Ceph, vSAN, and/or other cloud technologies is necessary. Experience with configuring and scripting automation tools like Ansible and Terraform, as well as understanding and deploying Kubernetes, would be advantageous.
Our office in Bologna, Italy, offers a dynamic and inclusive environment, with opportunities for career growth and professional development. We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary of approximately EUR73,201 per year, net of tax, plus additional benefits such as flexible teleworking policies and generous leave entitlements.
