Job Title: Seed Security Assessment Specialist

FAO is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Seed Security Assessment Specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the implementation of Seed Security Assessments (SSAs) in FAO Member Countries.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the planning and implementation of SSAs, engaging local, national, and international stakeholders in their design and implementation.
  • Conduct field assessments, analyze data, and develop reports to inform anticipatory actions, emergency responses, and seed sector development activities.
  • Disseminate SSA results to national and international stakeholders and facilitate the interpretation of findings and implementation of recommendations.
  • Contribute to the development of SSA-informed project proposals for seed security interventions, especially under emergency situations.
  • Develop training materials and deliver training courses on relevant themes, including SSA, for critical stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Advanced university degree in agronomy, impact evaluation, or related fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in agricultural/rural development or humanitarian assistance in agriculture.
  • Working knowledge of English and limited knowledge of French and/or Arabic.

Technical/Functional Skills:
  • Work experience with an international humanitarian or development organization.

  • Data analysis, particularly from mixed methods assessments.
  • Good communication and facilitation skills.
