Main Activities at Tender Stage

The role involves knowledge of the cable market, including customers, competitors, and subcontractors. A careful examination of tender documentation, particularly technical specifications, is also required. When present, survey data of the installation provided by the customer should be examined, and a technical solution should be elaborated in accordance with the above requisites. Internal discussions with Installation Engineering and other departments may be necessary to finalize the solution. Participation in clarifications meetings, both internal and with the customer, is also required. Site visits may be necessary to understand logistic aspects of the job, check the feasibility of solutions, and contact potential subcontractors.

Preparation and issuance of technical specifications (RFQ) for potential subcontractors are also part of the role. Examination of received proposals from subcontractors from various perspectives, including technical, economic, and scheduling/timing of the work, is necessary. Discussions with subcontractors aim to clarify offers and align them with Prysmian/Customer requirements. Fine-tuning of the final solution in agreement/cooperation with relevant departments such as System Design Engineering, Sales, Purchasing, Logistic, legal, HSE, Quality, and Project Management is required.

Elaboration of installation costs, assessing and quantifying risks associated with installation activities, is also part of the role. Preparation of the technical description of the work and documentation requested by the customer with regard to installation matters is required. Assembly and preparation of the plan of work with regard to the installation activities and provision of necessary input to planners for the assembly of the overall POW are necessary. Participation in negotiations and clarification meetings with the customer after the presentation of the proposal is also required.

Revisions of the tender package as a result of negotiations, changes in customer requests, etc., should be complied with during the entire process. At contractual stage, the main activities include participation in internal Kick Off Meeting(s). Transmittal of relevant information, such as costs, qualifications, and assumptions, to the project team and departments involved in the project execution phase is required. Participation in internal clarification meetings with relevant departments and meetings with the customer and/or subcontractors is also necessary.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

Applicants should hold a degree in Engineering or other relevant technical disciplines. Fluency in English, written and spoken, is required. The ideal candidate should be curious and eager to quickly learn and get involved to improve autonomy. They should be precise, proactive, problem-solving, and target-oriented. The ability to understand and conceptualize complexity into concise frameworks is essential.

Pragmatic, flexible, and capable of setting and handling priorities is also required. Good relationship approach and team-working capability is necessary. Knowledge and familiarity with basic and common software like Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, AutoCAD, and the use of the web are required. Availability to short but possibly frequent trips, domestic and abroad, is also necessary.
