Job Overview

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Epigenetic Research Scientist to join our team at EMBL's European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) in Italy. As a leading research institute in the life sciences, we conduct world-class biological research, provide training for students and scientists, and offer state-of-the-art technologies for various scientific services.

About the Role

This is a challenging opportunity to work on a cutting-edge experimental research project using high-throughput perturbation screening, epigenetic editing, multi-omics, and organoids. The successful candidate will uncover the regulatory logic by which distinct chromatin states shape gene expression patterns in health and disease, and the underlying mechanisms.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in epigenetics and genome regulation using CRISPR-based epigenome editing tool kits and high-throughput perturbation screening.
  • Collaborate with international teams to develop novel resources and models for precision-mutant lines and environmental exposure.
  • Design and implement experiments to uncover the mechanistic function of chromatin modifications in somatic and/or germ cells.
  • Analyse data from multi-omics and organoid studies to understand the impact of chromatin states on gene expression.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A PhD in molecular, developmental or chromatin biology.
  • Experience with mammalian tissue culture or stem cells.
  • Independence and ability to solve problems.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the highest ethical standards.
  • Skills in (epi)genomics techniques and/or biochemistry methods.
