We are currently looking for a Senior Coating Engineer, who will report directly to the head of the Industrial Coatings & Insulation section, to become a vital part of our Plant Design & Materials Division team.

Role Overview

In this role, you will be part of the Industrial Coatings & Insulation section, responsible for developing comprehensive project specifications for protective coatings, thermal and acoustic insulation, fireproofing, and refractory linings. You will serve as the primary contact for these disciplines, with a particular focus on refractory linings and fireproofing.

Key interactions for the Coating Engineer will include collaboration with internal project teams, process engineers, procurement, construction, and other engineering disciplines, as well as external engagement with clients, vendors, and suppliers.

Your responsibilities will encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the timely and high-quality preparation of project technical specifications in collaboration with other disciplines;
  • Developing insulation and painting summaries for piping and equipment;
  • Producing all necessary technical documentation and pricing schedules for insulation, painting, fireproofing, and refractory lining subcontracts;
  • Analyzing subcontractor offers and conducting technical bid tabulations, including clarifications and deviations;
  • Reviewing all vendor documentation;
  • Adhering to committed man-hours and budget constraints;
  • Meeting quality and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) objectives for the project;
  • Collaborating with other specialist engineers and project support functions such as procurement and planning.

You will have opportunities for business travel to attend technical meetings with clients or suppliers, and may also have the chance to engage in engineering activities related to protective coatings, insulation, fireproofing, and refractory linings directly on-site, supporting erection activities.

Candidate Profile

We would be delighted to hear from you if your qualifications align with the following essential criteria:

  • Education: Engineering Degree
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years, with a strong background in refractory linings and fireproofing materials preferred
  • Language Proficiency: Fluent in English
  • Key Skills:
    • Ability to work collaboratively in an international and multicultural environment
    • Capability to complete tasks on schedule while meeting the required quality standards
    • Open-mindedness towards new energy sources and digital solutions
    • Willingness to undertake international assignments, whether short or long-term
    • Familiarity with new energy sources, renewables, and green/blue hydrogen technologies, as well as digital tools and solutions is advantageous
    • Proficiency in the full Microsoft Office Suite is a plus
