Market Risk Analyst

Gas & Power Market

Job Description

We are seeking a highly experienced Market Risk Analyst to join our team in the Gas & Power Market division of Edison. The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing and monitoring the risks associated with our commodity trading activities, as well as developing and implementing risk management strategies to mitigate these risks.

Main Responsibilities

  • Analyze and monitor the exposure to risks in the Gas & Power Market division, including market price risks, credit risks, and operational risks.
  • Develop and implement risk management strategies to mitigate these risks, including the use of derivatives and other financial instruments.
  • Collaborate with the trading team to ensure that risk management strategies are aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide regular reporting to senior management on the level of risk associated with our commodity trading activities.
  • Support the development of new risk management models and tools to improve the accuracy of risk assessments.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, or engineering.
  • At least 6-8 years of experience in risk analysis and management, preferably in the energy sector.
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets and instruments, including derivatives and structured products.
  • Excellent programming skills in Python, R, or Matlab, as well as proficiency in VBA/Excel, Power BI, or Qliksense.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex information to non-technical stakeholders.

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will be based in Milan, Italy, and will be required to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The role will involve regular collaboration with the trading team and other stakeholders, as well as the development of new risk management models and tools.
