Job Description

The Senior Engineering Manager will oversee all maintenance and safety operations at the Westin Excelsior Rome, ensuring compliance with Italian laws and providing a safe environment for guests and workers.

This role involves managing engineering/maintenance operations, including maintaining the building, grounds, and physical plant, with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection. The successful candidate will be accountable for managing capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation, as well as ensuring full compliance with Italian Fire & Life Safety Legislation and Marriott International corporate policies.

The ideal candidate will have a technical background in civil/industrial or mechanical engineering and experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity. They will be responsible for leading the emergency response team for all facility issues and collaborating to ensure the safety and security of guests and associates of the hotel.

Main Responsibilities
  • Managing Property Operations and Engineering Budgets: Assist in managing the physical plant, including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical, and life safety systems.
  • Maintaining and Operating Equipment: Ensure that equipment is maintained and operated at optimum effectiveness, efficiency, and safety.
  • Establishing and Managing an Effective Rooms Maintenance Program: Establish and manage an effective rooms maintenance program to ensure that guest rooms are clean, comfortable, and safe.
  • Ensuring Compliance: Ensure compliance with all Engineering departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Managing Controllable Expenses: Manage the department's controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
  • Selecting and Ordering Equipment and Supplies: Select and order new equipment, supplies, and furnishings as needed.
