We are seeking a highly skilled Performance and Operability Lead Engineer to join our team at General Electric. As a key member of our Engine Performance & Operability section, you will be responsible for leading the performance and operability work scope on assigned projects, both for military and commercial products.
Key Responsibilities- Work cross-functionally with Controls, Operability, Systems, Aero, Heat Transfer, and hardware design engineers to accurately model and validate engine performance.
- Lead efforts to validate and update the engine performance model according to internal practice/standard and test evidence.
- Effectively communicate, present technical data, and provide recommendations to internal and external GE customers.
- Utilize the latest thermodynamic modeling tools to analyze engine performance & operability data and provide technical direction to make program decisions.
- Liaise with the Controls organization to define the power management and performance control/limiting schedules.
- Contribute to the definition of engine operability requirements (e.g. compressor stability, inclement weather, transient scheduling).
- Support operability tasks during test validation and engine certification phase.
- Lead engine test planning, coverage, and data analysis for engine tests.
- Provide technical guidance, direction, and training to less experienced engineers.
- Share engineering information and promote open dialogue.
- Ensure proper documentation of all work.
- Master's Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Experience in an engineering position in the aerospace industry in a similar role in Performance, Operability, Transient Analysis, and/or Controls.
- Demonstrated experience in engine thermodynamic modeling and test data support and analysis.
- Strong analytical skills and knowledge of thermodynamics and aerodynamics.
- Fluency in English (speaking and writing/reading).
- Work Visa, according to local regulation, is required.
- Experience in a performance-related position.
- Prior Turboprop/Turbofan/Turbojet engine experience.
- Prior engine qualification and/or certification experience.
- Previous experience with industry or GE thermodynamic modeling tools, especially NPSS.
- Familiarity with simulation tools and high-level program languages (C++, MATLAB, FORTRAN, etc.).
- Effective in contributing in a cross-functional teamwork environment.
- In-depth understanding of engineering technology and tools.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Passionate, curious, and enthusiastic for engineering challenges.
- Team worker and problem solver.
- Solid oral and written communication skills.
