The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Specialist to join its Office of the General Counsel. The successful candidate will play a critical role in providing legal advice on corporate and administrative law matters, ensuring that IFAD's operations are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

IFAD is an international financial institution and a specialized United Nations agency dedicated to eradicating rural poverty and hunger. Our mission is to improve the lives of poor people in developing countries by mobilizing resources towards agricultural development.
Key Responsibilities
- Legal Advice and Representation: Provide high-quality legal advice on corporate and administrative law matters, including interpretation of legal instruments, treaties, constitutions, statutes, rules, and regulations.
- Research and Analysis: Conduct research and analysis on complex legal issues, preparing studies, reports, and correspondence as required.
- Policy Development and Implementation: Contribute to the development and implementation of IFAD's policies and procedures related to corporate and administrative law.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with colleagues across the organization to ensure seamless delivery of services, while maintaining effective communication with stakeholders, including Member States, donors, and other external partners.
Requirements
- Education: Advanced university Law degree from an accredited institution (Juris Doctor, Masters or equivalent)
- Experience: At least 5 years of progressive legal experience with an international organization, law firm, or international financial institution (IFI), in the provision of legal advice on corporate and administrative law issues.
- Language Skills: English (4 - Excellent); Desirable: French and/or Spanish (3 - Good)
- Skills: Procurement; IFAD governance & mandate; Strategy implementation; Legal advice; Legal drafting; Risk management; Topical expertise - Legal; Business acumen, private sector knowledge; Client orientation
