Software Engineer for Embedded AI Robotics

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer to join our team at the iCub-Tech facility, where electronic, mechanical, and software engineers collaborate to carry out common research. The successful candidate will contribute to the joint laboratory between IIT and Camozzi, a global leader in designing and producing motion and fluid control components.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design control algorithms for enabling autonomous grasping with grippers using cutting-edge AI tools for the embedded domain.
  • Address grasping scenarios of increasing complexity, such as with and without clutter, bin picking vs. affordance-based grasping.
  • Deploy production code on embedded control boards with model-based techniques.
  • Design and execute experiments for the validation of algorithms and models.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related fields.
  • Experience with model-based engineering tools such as MATLAB and Simulink.
  • Basic knowledge of AI-based and machine-learning methodologies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to cooperate.
  • Creative, proactive, and collaborative attitude.
  • Proficient in English, written and oral.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience with robot middleware systems such as ROS, ROS2, OPC UA, or YARP.
  • Basic knowledge of electronics, mechanical engineering, and control.
  • Basic knowledge of mathematics, physics, and robotics foundations.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C/C++, Python.
  • Experience with embedded software development.
  • Experience with simulation tools.
