Job Title: Chief Accountant - Italian Compliance Expert

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Chief Accountant to join our team in Gorgonzola, Italy. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling statutory, compliance, and tax activities for our Italian entity, ensuring all filing deadlines are met and returns are accurate and efficiently produced.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage relations with statutory auditors on a quarterly basis and at year-end regarding the presentation of annual accounts;
  • Support the fiscal consultant in preparing the annual corporate tax return;
  • Support the SSC with regard to AP/AR journal postings, AP, AR, GL accounts reconciliation;
  • Handle legal matters related to bankruptcy procedures;
  • Resolve current issues with compliance activity, including validation and reconciliation of systems/reports and supporting records;
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual corporate (US GAAP) reporting according to strict deadlines, with responsibility for the Italy entity;
  • Champion SOX compliance, demonstrating a strong grasp of internal control;
  • Other ad-hoc work as may be required from time to time, including provision of support to other entity team members as needed;
  • Project work and process improvement initiatives across the function;
  • Prepare Year-end Local Statutory Accounts;
  • Support the payroll consultant in managing the monthly payslip, preparation of payroll GL posting, and related accounts reconciliation;
  • Support the Local Production in calculating Local Standard Cost;
  • Control activities related to costing, pricing, and GL account cost centers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field;
  • Professional accounting qualification is preferred;
  • Demonstrably good grasp of internal control and how to run an efficient month-end/year-end process;
  • Current, hands-on Italian compliance knowledge is a necessity;
  • US GAAP knowledge desirable;
  • English and Italian language ability a necessity;
  • Ability to contribute to projects and process improvement desirable;
  • Good systems knowledge preferred, including MS Excel, SAP;
  • Good VAT knowledge, including on EC and non-EC operations and Intrastat reporting.
