Key Responsibilities
The On-Site Signaling Engineer (maintenance technician) plays a crucial role in delivering technical support for both trackside and onboard Signaling Automatic Train Control (ATC) systems, including ATS, IXL, and CBTC. This position encompasses both first and second line support duties.
When faced with technical challenges, the maintenance technician is expected to troubleshoot issues effectively. If the problem persists, they will coordinate with the designated 3rd Line System Expert for further assistance.
This role reports directly to the maintenance manager.
Responsibilities Include:
- Conducting complex maintenance and repair tasks on electronic and electromechanical Train Control (TC) systems.
- Performing comprehensive inspections, adjustments, testing, and maintenance on assigned ATC equipment, adhering to established technical documentation.
- Monitoring ATC system components to identify potential failures and diagnosing malfunctions.
- Documenting all installation, maintenance, and modification activities related to ATC systems.
- Providing guidance and technical support to junior personnel in their tasks.
- Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and operational protocols.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Proficiency in both Italian and English.
- Completion of a recognized electronic/electromechanical training program, coupled with relevant experience in train control systems.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in maintaining and repairing complex digital and analog train control systems.
Educational Background
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical qualification in a relevant field.
